Can we get a Katrina-Style forum for emergency info for California fires?
If I remember correctly, it worked well during Katrina, and the information I posted was wrong only 1/12 of the time.

2. Yes!
I'm in Canada on business and my home is in north San Diego County.... I'm desperately trying to find information and have limited computer access. This is terrible! A forum would be a great way to find out current news.

3. Ian--start a meta-thread in GD or other big forum
so that non-contributors can get into it and so that people aren't off searching in some side forum.

If you start a thread, I will start to gather links and encourage DUers to check in.

5. Start one thread in GD for fire info & DUer contacts.
That way everything can be found in one thread, in one forum. Don't put the info into a smaller group or sub-forum.

Keep all the information in one place--that was a problem during Katrina.

9. YES, PLEASE!
I'm in Houston, still surrounded by Katrina survivors, but now, I have a grandson in Santa Barbara (I heard thre were fires all the way up there), a daughter in Santa Clarita, a daughter in Long Beach and a granddaughter with two babies in SanDiego. I would appreciate every bit of info I can find.

Chula Vista has some areas they are starting to evacuate but none that I am aware of in Rancho Bonita (south of Chula Vista unless Im mistaken...)

You can listen online to PBS continual coverage - its fairly good - they have made a couple mistakes with numbers but otherwise they are good....

15. A serious situation
I'm not in SoCal anymore, but many of my closest friends are.

This seems to me to be shaping up into a disaster, to say the least.

But I'll leave it to the discretion of the mods whether it should have its own forum. All I can say is that I've been tuned to Los Angeles news for the past 24 hours straight.

I hope all of you SoCal DUers are safe!

16. Can we get it divided into two forums?
One for SD and one for LA - the resources available are different.
