Witch Creek Fire in San Diego County
Just got home to Encinitas, CA.

Worked out of Lake Poway, CA today.
I work in the Public Works Department.
We kept the roads free of fallen trees and directed traffic.
Very bad.
High winds.
Big fire.
Over 500 homes gone.
The worst I have seen in my years here (50).

I report back at 7 am tomorrow...good night all.

4. Bout 17 years ago just outside Santa Ysabel
I was workin at the Magauyan Boy Scout camp with my Seabee shipmates when a Fire came stormin thru.

Shit happened fast.

There were 500 Seabees and 200 Boy Scouts that had to evac in a hurry.

We got everybody out but had to leave our belongings behind, luckily the fire stayed away from the cabins, and thus our stuff.

We trucked to a local High School and slept in sleeping bags on the football field for two days. The Red Cross showed up with boxes of KFC :) Later we were trucked into Miramar NAS and the Base Commander was standing at attention and saluted us as we got off the bus.

Interesting times
