Bush/Cheney: A Resounding Success!
Is it a mistake to think of them as incompetent fools?
Part of me thinks that they are more malevolent and indifferent than incompetent.
Here is a great Jim Holt article on Iraq

http://www.lrb.co.uk/v29/n20/holt01_.html

In it he points out, just as Mike Malloy sometimes does that Iraq is not a failure, but a resounding success for Bush and Cheney. Who cares if brown people or a few poor US soldiers get blown up in the process....

I kind of agree. AND I deplore the lack of discussion on how profiteering is fueling the death machine in Iraq. This is not about troop withdrawal or not: this is about removing the vampires that are profiting at our expense and that of the Iraqi people who are deprived of jobs, resources, and life.

Wake up, everyone...stop using their language ("war on terror", "Al Qaeda in Iraq", "Iraq war", "Iranian threat", etc.) and realize that all these missing billions are ours, and that all these murders are committed in our name.
Argh...I'm emailing Nancy, Dianne, and my representative right now. It's not much but when a nation goes to sleep, speaking up becomes the first revolutionary act!

1. It is all about the fraud
the waste, the abuse of the government procurement process. War of this sort creates a magnificent opportunity to transfer billions from the common American to the rich. Enabling profiteering is definitely part of the agenda. But only part.

2. It certainly is a mistake!
If we allow the Republics to write off Bu$h Presidency as only a bunch of incompetent idiot's, we will at some point in the future see another Admin that may well be the worst of the worst of malevolent Fascists!

3. I wish everyone in this country would read this article
Greenspan was right when it said it's all about the oil. But most people don't understand oil economics, and when they see that the US military is not stealing Iraqi oil directly, they assume Greenspan's premise is wrong.

But Greenspan is right and this article does a fine job of explaining that.

4. And oil is about Profiteering
It is a vicious circle that starts and ends with Americans being taken to the cleaners for their hard earned money. Do you realize Exxon has for the last several years had net Profits of over one hundred million dollars a day..A frigging day..every single day for year after year, net profits, that means after all expenses have been paid, in the pocket money, one hundred million a day...think about it..Profiteering is the correct term..
