This isn't a dig at the Red Sox team or their fans...

This is just an observation about how kooky this damn country is.

2. Including thousands who will take the day off from work...
...and then say they can't march in a protest because they can't afford to take a day off from work.

3. The fact baseball teams became a topic in the media -
Ghouliani switching teams, who Hillary supports - while troops are dying and innocent civilians are being killed is an embarrassment. I have yet to hear news on the tube about the 10 kidnapped sheiks.

14. kidnapped sheiks
Why do you want to hear about the 10 sheiks ? They are now acting in conjunction with the military against al quada and anything being done to improve the situation now will only prolong the war. I hate to be the one saying it but the more things start to improve the worst it is for Hillary, THE NEXT PRESIDENT, sorry obama. She can't pull troops when she is elected if everything is trending to a victory, if there is such a thing. The best thing for us now is continued chaos.

4. Lots of people abhor politics
especially so early in the 2008 election game.

I am sick of it myself, but I know I have to keep up with political news.

I would say half my acquaintances don't vote at all.

7. I'm going to the victory parade
I have also travelled many miles to participate in anti-war protests...it is possible to do both:) Following the Red Sox is the one thing that kept me sane for the last few years...and I will revel in the celebration.

15. revel all you want
beating the rockies ( a 4th place team) is akin to beating up a kid in a wheelchair.

9. Many years ago, I read an article about the country's mood during WW2
Movies became the escape hatch for people who were tired and afraid because of the war. The article didn't mention anything about sports, but I'll bet many people became sports fans at that point. People want to celebrate for a change, and anything will do.
