Poll question: Do you get a flu shot each year?
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 07:37 PM by Quixote1818
Just curious. I have never had one but I heard Australia had a horrible season this past winter and Australia is one of the best indicators of how bad the season will be.

I am not going to take any chances this year. I am going to get one tomorrow.

1. I nearly always manage to procrastinate and not get one.
Not because I don't want it.

3. Me too,
I found a place and time though this year and emailed a reminder to myself to go. So, every time I check email I am reminded of the time and place. I have been meaning to go for the past month but finally did the foot work to do so after hearing about Australia.

5. I've never had one. The years I've tried to get one,
they were either all out of vaccine or were trying to save it for immunocompromised folks. I've kind of given up.

6. I try to get one every year but
sometimes miss a year. That reminds me, I need to go get mine. The local hospital is doing them for $18. I'll go tomorrow.

7. I got one last year
And I got so sick. I was out for a week with a terrible cold/flu. I never felt as bad as I did last year. No flu shot for me this year.

19. You had caught that virus
before the flu shot...or it wasn't the same virus. There is NO way you can get flu from the flu shot. It is KILLED virus. Like DEAD. Please everyone stop saying this. The flu shot cuts the side effects from the virus and is really a preventive and public health measure.

8. I never get them and I haven't had the flu since...
Hmmm... I can't even tell you when the last time was that I had a cold or the flu! I know for a fact that I have had neither in the past five years or more. I must have a cast iron immune system. I heal very quickly too.

11. Had one three successive years, some years back
First year I had a sore arm and was sick for a day. Second year I was sick at home for three days. Third year, was so sick I missed a week of work. So no. I don't get them anymore.

13. never had one
haven't had flu in years - probably since high school - or at least college. I get colds occasionally...maybe every 2-3 years (hard to remember for sure, because sometimes my illnesses are due to my allergies rather than a virus).

I might consider it if I worked with the public, so I wouldn't pass anything on.

16. I Had One Once And
I had one once and I actually caught the flu.

It was terrible.

I was sick for ten or eleven days.

Fever, coughs, chills, everything.

I will NEVER get another flu shot.

17. Every year since three years ago
...when I got the flu. The REAL flu, none of this sniffles or aching nonsense, the real, honest-to-goodness, out-of-body for three days, sweating into the sheets, shivering, skin-hurting, what-do-you-mean-it's-Thursday, Flu.

It sucked. I get shots now. :)

22. Yes, the last couple of times I got the flu.....
I could hardly believe how sick I was. So sick it scared me. I don't know if it's that flu bugs are getting worse or just that I'm getting older, but it's not worth the risk.

I get a flu shot every year now.

21. I used to get the flu every year, and it made me sick as hell.
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 07:57 PM by Prisoner_Number_Six
Since the year of my first flu shot I've never come down with it once. And I've been getting the shot for over fifteen years now.

Just got mine on Tuesday.
