It's been posted here all day since the decision was announced by the SC Democratic Party.

3. Nooooooooo! They could have at least waited a week or two.
We were having so much fun. Now it's over.

Wasn't Pat Paulson on the ticket? What about Arnold Schwarzenegger? Is he governortial enough to be a governator? Come on! Stephen Colbert has everything it takes to be president. A suit. A tie. The hair. Anyone can carry a football around. It only takes one finger to launch a nuclear attack. And what about Bush? He's not presidential. So I think maybe he ought to consider appealing their refusal.

5. I wonder if he could still get on the ballot here in Georgia?
The Republicans and the Diebold Corporate A-holes who count our votes don't let Democrats win anymore anyway, so why not?

6. I am a big fan of Colbert, but I am glad it is over.It would be fine for him to be
on the Republican primary ballot because that is the character he plays is the way I see it. So don't be cheap Colbert pony up the 35k and run as the Republican you pretend to be to make fun of them.

The Republicans don't have a method of rejecting a ballot like the Democrats do there written into their laws, if you raise the cash there you get in and at 35k you cover the filing cost and put a little change in their coffers so what if you disrupt their process and send a bunch of disruptive elements to the Republican convention.

I pledge to donate $100 if he runs as a Republican.

11. Yeah, what nadinbrzezinski said!
If he spends more than $5000.00 dollars on his campaign, he has to obey the Campaign "laws."

Yeah, campaign laws are SO effective in this country.:eyes:

21. I was amazed that the Democratic fee was so much less than the
Republican fee - $2500 to $35000 - tells us a little about who the Rethugs want running, I guess.

12. It was a good skit
It did a fine job of promoting his book and his show.

If it was me, I would be relieved to be able to stop eating the Doritos. Man those things suck.

I love how Colbert's bits always reveal his character's underlying weakness. That's the kind of person he says he enjoys playing: someone pumped up with his own importance, deeply invested in his own superiority, only to show his feet of clay at a crucial moment. I thought a sex scandal would end his candidacy, or maybe a shady donor; but tonight's "natural" ending was a good solution.

14. That, and the Writers Strike!
Who knows how long this is going to last? It's re-runs next week, and maybe the week after that, and the week after that...

Can you imagine if this had happened in the middle of the Strike?

18. I thought the same thing
Made me wonder whether they had always planned to end it this way or if the impending strike made them wrap it up.
