1. He be trangulatin' -- a fire break of sorts
Disingenuous little shit "futurist" that he is, Newt sees the writing on the wall. We are winning on Environment/energy/climate change, and he wants to reframe as "govt vs private enterprise" and therefore do what Buschco does with military contracts.

That's the shell of this nut. Heard him explain it in his "debate" with John Kerry on c-span last spring or so.
Predictable little blowhard.

10. At least it's something.
Compare it to any of the despicable shit Inhofe has said. That's basically the alternative when it comes to Republicans on environmental issues.

11. I agree with you on the position he took in the debate with Kerry
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 07:49 AM by karynnj
He had as recently as a few years before been very skeptical of global warming. The "surprise" of the debate was that he came in and immediately attempted to seize the entire middle ground as his. He moved the debate from the science to the solution. Against a less knowledgeable or less capable debater, this would have been a devastating tactic. Kerry was easily able to keep control and frame Newt's idea that the "market" could get us to where we need to be as what we have been doing since the 1992 Rio conference and that it hasn't worked.

If his book reflects where he was in that debate, it will not be like Gore's 2 books, which excellently made the scientific case for global warming in language accessible to everyone, but a tract on how free markets steered by government carrots could solve the problem. It actually was a good debate and it did seem that if Kerry's and Newt's positions defined the spectrum of opinion (which they don't), a compromise solution could be worked out.

I've already had enough of that to do me for at least one lifetime.

I often read books by people whose opinions I disagree with. I just don't feel like giving them my money.

8. When will these fascists learn that they're in the minority?
The over 90% of the "Earth" thinks that Newt and company are the very worst that America has to offer.

He and his ilk only attract cult-like numbers in America and America only holds a small percentage of the Earth's population.

So he has a lot of nerve proclaiming ANYTHING resembling a worldwide "contract".

9. When it's all over for his ilk .He and the cons will be the
biggest environmentalists ever. Thats right. Halliburton will be in charge of it of course. And the smallest cleanup will cost billions.

12. It will turn out to be another "Contract with America"
or Bush's clean air initiatives. In other words, it will be a bunch of hot air. Just what we need, more global warming.

Time to tell us it's all a big joke.

"Contract With Earth?" This is REAL?

Since it's the Newtzi, are you sure it's not "Contact with Earth?"

Oh. My. God.
