DUers interested in the Iran situation: BookTV segment 7pm Eastern.
I caught it last night and it was a good snapshot of what BushCo is doing there right now -- much more than just sending in Special Forces across the border. This presenter really seems to know what he's talking about. Must see. It will be on CSPAN2.

"7:00 PM 1 hr, 10 min The Iran Agenda: The Real Story of U.S. Policy and the Middle East Crisis
Author: Reese Erlich"

Here's the Amazon link to the book:

2. Very important.
It's important for DUers to watch this type of program. I also thank sfexpat2000 for the link, and you for providing us with many references and resources.

3. Sure! I learned so much!
I had no idea we were arming former TALIBAN operatives to go into Iran, for instance.

If we don't know what our government is doing, we can't respond to it. This segment is well worth the time of anyone who is watching US policy toward Iran.

9. So, I get to the end of TIVO'd show, running about a half-hour buffer
Very balanced, academic presentation on where we find ourselves today with Iran.

So, I hit the LiveTv button, and, lo and behold, here is some author who has written an obviously Islamophobic book (pontificating on about foot baths at the KC airport being creeping Sharia law). Then, up comes some Reichbot from the audience asking if the Muslims are being used by the communists and the socialist internationale as a tool to attain world domination.

Yes, by pressing that simple button, I was back in contemporary America.

Back to Erlich. No new revelations, but was useful in refining my model for were we are and how the coming tragedy for both countries will play themselves out.

Highlights for me were:

1) When he noted that in trips to the Soviet Union and Burma, people would not speak to journalists. In Iran, people appear to air all to visiting journalists. Worlds most incompetent police state? Or smoke being blown up the collective asses of the American people by the Reich?

2) Even though Ah-jad may be itching to perform male bonding with the 12th Imam, the industrialists and Mullahs-in-charge are not that ready to find out if bombing Israel will be followed by the sound of trumpets signaling the coming.

(BTW, thanks for the heads up)

10. I also thought his observation on the level of free speech on the street
Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 09:20 PM by sfexpat2000
in Iran was instructive when compared to other places like Burma.

I didn't know that we'd been arming third parties to run missions inside Iran. He said we've been doing this for "years" and as he seems to be a careful and credible speaker, that was alarming.

As was his statement that the order to bomb Iran is on Junior's desk, just not signed yet. But, we could have probably deduced that.
