if there is a problem on the American left, it's that
our memories are too short. People in both parties are counting on Mukasey to be a forgotten issue a month from now, and they're probably right.

1. Gonzalez who?
I don't remember anything about that.

:P

Our memories - or at least, our collective memory - are short, indeed, and it's too bad. We fuck ourselves over and over again because of it. And if we're not short-memorying, we're too hopeful. "Just because his last 400 appointees have been incompetent, criminally negligent jackasses doesn't mean that this one will be, even though she/he has a long record of failure and questionable behavior, and has never worked in the field she/he is being appointed to, and is clearly utterly partisan and, in fact, seems to detest the department he/she will head, so I say we go ahead and approve him/her. It'll be fine."

2. I'm indifferent to his confirmation.
The Acting AG is the founder of the Federalist Society and an overall scary guy, and Bush seems content to leaving him there for the remainder of his term if Mukasey is not confirmed.

This is the most acceptable AG nominee we will get out of this White House, especially since he has indicated that he has no problem having an Acting AG for the next year.

Is this guy really worse than Mukasey?

7. Well I look at it this way, anyone who fills that spot and is picked by this cabal leaves us cause
for concern, I doubt the present acting AG nor the one in line are making the final decisions anyway, I am more scared of the man behind the curtain which I strongly hope will find himself one day very soon naked and cold, shivering and jittery with fear and bookmarked on everyones computer favorites for all the world to see and shared by emails if necessary and finally outed with the reasons being finally known because if the truth ever does become known I doubt very much the televised media will cover and run with it any more than they cover the current criminal outrages of the day leaked to whomever, all we have is the internet and neighborly meeting halls to ensure the word gets out .

8. depends on who you ask.
DLC? Two guys named "Skip", a "No War for Oil" sticker and a bottle of French wine.

GOP? Two women with hairy legs, Birkenstocks, an adopted child named "Sky" and a commitment ceremony.

DCCC? Third rail.

Blue Dogs? "Are you now, or have you ever been..."

6. I don't think its so much that our memories are so short but more to the point
that each day I swear seems to have another issue needing to be discussed and or debated about, there are just so many issues needing addressing right now some get lost in the fray but I don't think they get completely forgotten and how many times have you been just hanging out thinking of another thing and all of a sudden an issue that really outraged you in the past comes back at you full force, so much so that in fact your blood pressure rises just as high if not higher than it did the first time you were informed of a certain issue.

Thankfully we have some people that focus on one problem which they should allowing another to focus on a different one, there is no way in the world for one person to be able to handle and address each and every issue that needs such a great deal of attention.

We have enough people in this country to divide into groups that can address certain areas of concern, perhaps that should be more the focus, kind of like going back to school when the teacher assigns little groups to handle different problems.

Maybe that is our answer?

9. I've thought that before.
They do it intentionally - too many things to attend to, too little time to hit them all. Some kind of division of labor would be good, yes, if we could only organize.

10. Delay, Doolittle. Stevens. Vitter. Foley.
Want to count all the names. The MSM does a good job of burying all the republican skanks. But they sure keep those white blonds, run away brides, and brain dead wives in the news.
