Poll question: Gun discussion at DU
Some people here love guns, some people hate them. Over a
year ago, I posted a gun question in the "Gun" forum
about guns. I was quickly chased out of the "Gun"
forum because the "Gun forum was supposed to be about gun
legislation, not guns. I was directed to the "outdoor
life" forum. Recently, someone asked about guns in the
gun forum, was chased to the outdoor life forum and back to
the gun forum and his questions were not, in my opinion,
answered. So, my first question is
Should DU have a forum where gun owners or those who are
curious about guns can discuss them without grtting bounced
from forum to forum?

Secondly, I have seen a few informal polls here that tend to
refute the lie that "Liberals want to take your guns
away. The informal polls say otherwise, so lets have a
definitive DU poll.

The questions are below.
There is a space for "other" because some things are
not so simple.

Please keep this poll kicked because I think that this issue
is unfairly used against progressives and would really like to
get a progressive take on this issue.

1. You could ostensibly start a group for it
There's all kinds of hobbyists in the DU groups.

2. I picked the first one
but I could have just as easily picked the second one too...I think a forum would be nice and I own several guns.

3. Your poll asks about 2 different things.
best to simplify it somehow. Is the question "should DU have a gun owners place" or "who should have a gun"?

4. I'm doing the best I can. I understand that there are two issues on the table
but that is how the issues were presented to me in previous posts. I'm just trying to get input on both issues so we can find a place we can all agree upon with regard to a new forum and a consensus about gun control.

5. Pole is confusing
It would be better if there were multiple choice for the different questions. IMHO

6. I agree but I am not an expert.
If you have superior skills, have at it. I am just interested in the results

8. Try this
In message: Should DU have a forum where gun owners and others can discuss guns AND who do you think should own guns?

1. yes, du should have gun forum AND I own a gun
2. No, du should not have a gun forum AND I own a gun
3. yes, du should have gun forum AND I don't own a gun, but don't care if you do
4. No, du should not have a gun forum AND I don't own a gun, but don't care if you do
5. Yes, AND no one but military should own a gun
6. NO, AND no one but military should own a gun
7. Yes AND nobody should own a gun, period
8. No AND nobody should own a gun, period.

Or even better, post 2 new topics. First the poll as to gun ownership, the second a question if anyone is interested in a group where gun owners and others can discuss guns. If you want to start a group, there is a proper way to do it, post the question and see what interest there is. If you want to know what people feel about whom should own guns, just as that one, simplify it.

10. Two things.
One: Please don't change your font. it makes it harder to read.
Two: In a multiple-choice poll, "Should DU have a forum where gun owners and others can discuss guns" and "Do you have a gun" are not good choices for answers.

12. my chosen response wasn't available.
Specifically, I don't think their should be a gun forum devoted specifically to talking only about guns, since I don't see the political angle. The other threads I come across all have at least some political angle to them. The gun forum we have talks about gun legislation because there is a political angle in there. I don't see the politics in discussing the relative merits of an M-1 Garand vs. a Kar 98k.

13. "forum where gun owners and others can discuss guns" like, "Now that's a great gun!"
or, "Hey! Now that's what I call bullets!!" cause while this household has no guns within it at this time, both hubby and i have owned guns; he pistols & rifles, myself a permit to carry concealed...we've owned specialized archery equipment for that matter,

Ed Schultz refers to himself as "Fish'n hunt'n, gun tote'n lefty!!" so there's that, a 'gun forum' might be helpful for others to maybe understand, if they wouldn't keep trying to ride rough shod over it's premise as being informative...hopefully

14. Do you work for Diebold? This is one of the most
confusing polls I've seen at DU in a long time.

How can someone vote on whether to a have a special forum, if they've already cast their vote on whether they own a gun or not, or whether people should be allowed to own guns?

Your poll deals with two separate issues and people can't vote twice. So I didn't even bother.

And as someone else said, quit converting your text into that trollish-looking font.
