5. "Frivolous" Is The Operative Word
I think we can all agree that any "nut" can't just sue a telcom due to a bad bill and claim his FISA rights had been violated. But that's not the issue and is a distortion...and Thornburg's job. He's astroturfing the "benevolent" corporation "looking after our welfare" crap, since he's one of the few credible spokespeople the Repugnicans can wheel out right now.

You'd think with how politicized this regime made the judiciary, they wouldn't need to get immunity or go outside previous FISA rules...thus there's more here than we know. The real story won't come to light until this regime is out of power and one of the many messes/bombshells that await the next administration. Immunity can't be granted until the extent of the violations of FISA law have been properly discolsed. But it's easier to try to scare people on one side and pass off other facets of this intrusion into our lives.

10. It's not his right to judge what is frivolous or not.
"We can't allow them to be sued by individuals who disagree with a policy that is being followed" -- there goes recourse to the law.

11. That's What Due Process Is All About
A frivolous suit rarely goes the distance. Most are economic blackmail in hopes of getting the defendant to settle out. Any judge worth his law degree will never let a suit that doesn't have merit go to trial and rarely do you have a plaintif with the resources to go to trial and thus the concept of "frivious" is bullshit.

Laws were wontonly violated...but we still have no clue how bad. It's gotta be something for both this regime and the telcoms to want this retroactive immunity so badly. Let's find out the sin before you deal with the sinners.

7. lol 1993 thornburgh sued by karl rove and lost
from wiki

He resigned as Attorney General in 1991 to run for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Senator John Heinz, who was killed in a plane crash. Thornburgh was widely expected to win the seat; however, he was defeated in a surprise upset by Democrat Harris Wofford. Thornburgh then served as undersecretary general to the United Nations from 1992 to 1993.

In 1993, Thornburgh's campaign committee was sued in federal court by Karl Rove, at the time President of Karl Rove & Co, an Austin-based company. Rove's won the case and collected $180,000 from the Thornburgh committee. Karl Rove & Co v. Thornburgh was heard by Judge Sam Sparks who had been appointed by President George H.W. Bush in 1991.

One of the callers asked if he though booooshie was the worst president or the most stpuid. Thornburgh says "I'll leave that to the historians".

14. Thornburgh...
Attorney General under George H.W. Bush. Friend of the family. Even coauthored a book with Poppy. He's the guy that headed up the lynch mob that went after Dan Rather.

I don't think his opinions on FISA are worth much.
