Crisis in Pakistan
One must go to an overseas news source for any real info. Even here on DU I see very little regarding this.
It is HUGE to the rest of the world.

3. It's probably a case of....
Edited on Mon Nov-05-07 09:41 AM by ...of J.Temperance
Dictator Musharraf is a little buttboy for W....so the MSM has decided to just PRETEND that nothing of much significance is occuring in Pakistan.

Really Pakistan should have been invaded in 2002, the REAL supporters and harborers of Al-Qaeda and other Radical Islamists, such as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have been pampered and treated with kid gloves.

There IS a War on Terror, it's just NEVER been in Iraq....Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are where the REAL shit is to be found.

IF W were SERIOUS about fighting terrorism, then Pakistan and Saudi Arabia would have been sorted YEARS ago....but instead, W gets reach arounds from Pakistan and he holds hands and skips through a field of Texas Bluebonnets with the King of the House of Saud.

Meanwhile, Iraq, a country that had ZILCH to do with 9/11, Al Qaeda OR Radical Islam gets the shit bombed out of it, then gets occupied, and in the process Pandora's Box gets opened and a previously quiet and SECULAR country that was of NO threat to ANYONE and had NEVER in it's ENTIRE history been subjected to suicide bombings, gets turned into Hell on Earth.

Some GREAT FU logic that W critter has....now the W Cheerleading Squad aka the MSM, just shuts up and PRETENDS that Pakistan ISN'T about to go batshit crazy in the form of probable Civil War.

NONE of this would have happened, if Pakistan would have been slapped upside the head in 2002.

4. Anyone else think a 1917 Kerensky scenario is playing out in Pakistan...
e.g. by waiting too long before Musharaff is replaced, an opening for a more radical revolution is made.

FYI: February Revolution of 1917
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Kerensky

Let me be clear, while I think that the Islamic terror threat is VASTLY over played in this country, the idea of radical Islamists in Pakistan getting hold of the Pakistani A-Bomb is not a happy one.

5. There wouldn't have been this
Disturbing development if Pakistan instead of Iraq would have been invaded in 2002.

Everyone with a BRAIN KNEW that this shit was going to happen in Pakistan, it wasn't a question of if but when....that Pakistan was a wolf in sheeps clothing, talking out of both sides of its mouth and harboring, funding and training Radical Islamic extremists....mainly in the Southern regions of Pakistan.

Stupid W and the oafs around him, IGNORED, DELIBERATELY Pakistan and instead sold them military hardware and treated them with kid gloves.

People KNEW that ALL roads to Radical Islamic extremism lead DIRECTLY back to Pakistan....yet nothing was done.

What's happening in Pakistan is partially the fault of W....I don't believe he gives a shit about terrorism, IF he did, then he'd have dealt with Pakistan in 2002....it's been a powder-keg situation for years, Pakistan WAS an IMMEDIATE threat....yet instead W chose to invade Iraq which was NEVER a threat.

7. This is going to end badly
This one makes me very nervous. Nukes in the hands of Taliban-like extremists make me very nervous for countries in close proximity to them. Taliban-like extremists in general make me incredibly fearful for the female population of Pakistan.

This is going to end badly. It's to late to stop it. The time for peace resolutions was again missed by our pathetic and inept Administration.

I, for one, will not cheer for the ouster of the Pakistani President because what comes after him could well be a nightmare.
