I didn't want to pollute EarlG's weekly masterpiece with this, so I thought I'd start a separate thread.
EarlG's number 9 Idiot this week was Richard Curtis -- yet another Republican who has dedicated a good portion of his political energies to denying equal rights to those of the GBLT persuasion. Of course, he's gay:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=103&topic_id=318821&mesg_id=318821Have you ever wondered what Republicans are saying about this in the privacy of their own forums? Have you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall so you could listen and watch the heads explode?
This may not be what you expected, but it's real. If I were you, I'd take some Dramamine and a couple of Advil -- this stuff is hard on the mind. This is real, folks. As the old saw goes, "You just can't make this shit up." (The names have been changed to disavow any membership of these people in the human race):
Straight in Idaho:
Well, Rep. Curtis didn't ask the other sick fag to marry him, nor did he try to make what they were doing a protected act, so I don't see the problem. I like consistency. It shows character.
Self-loathing is not new nor necessarily a bad thing for a homosexual. He didn't condon his own actions. What appears to you as the ultimate in hypocrisy is really nothing more than understanding right from wrong, even while doing the wrong.
I'll be glad when you little fags figure out this sort of stuff doesn't amount to a hill of beans. The man was right in public and wrong in his personal life. Big deal. It doesn't help your faggy cause one bit to pretend otherwise. Homosexual acts are sick and damaging. God damn those who stand up in public and say otherwise, regardless of what they are sticking up their ass in private.
Mr. Short Bus:
can you point to any article where Curtis "preached" against anything related to the gay lifestyle?
he voted on behalf of his constituency; not his personal preferences. what exactly would you have him do?
LoveItOrLeaveIt:
explain why banging a transvestite requires domestic partnership laws or anti-discrimination laws. Why do employers have to be forced to hire and retain queers? Why does an elected rep have to defy the will of his constituents to enact legislation they are opposed to?
This is not an indictment of conservative republicans but it speaks more to the fraud and duplicity of gay liberal democrats perpetrated against their constituents.
Neo-Contrite:
I'm not about to renounce all of my conservative convictions just because it turns out that some no-name GOP congressman is a turd-puncher.
Libtards Suck:
There are gay people who are intelligent enough to know that gay marriage, civil unions, adoptions and some jobs are not good for society. They know they should get ahead in life by using their skills and character, not their behaviors.
There are some African-Americans who are intelligent enough to know that people should get ahead in life by using their skills and character, not their race.
There are some women who are intelligent enough to know that women should get ahead in life by using their skills and character, not their sex.
There is no hypocrisy in any of these stands. That liberals fail to understand this says more about their own lack of intelligence and character than anything else.
Ritt Momney:
If the homosexual congressman passes himself off as a normal man and even takes a wife - (supposedly) denying himself his true nature - just to gain some societal benefit from mariage, and if it is such a positive personal thing to do - shouldn't the other homosexuals do it too? You know, to keep all things equal? Shouldn't all homosexuals be cheating the system the same way - if that's what's important?
Republican By The Grace Of God:
Man isn't without sin though. Redemption is there for all of us. God knows we are flawed beings who will continue to sin. As Christians, we are expected to follow God's word and to seek forgiveness when we don't. Being a Christian isn't a "Get out of sin free" card either. That would be hypocrisy.
Non-Christians have a really hard time with this concept. But as a Christian, you are supposed to forgive others when they sin. However, it's up to them to seek the ultimate redemption from God and to get back on the right path. We aren't supposed to judge. But we can condemn sinful behavior if it's done wantonly. We never stop loving the sinner though. You're supposed to use a tough love approach and pray for them to find redemption.
Of course your mileage may vary on this entire concept. Depends on your personal beliefs.
As for a gay conservative serving in politics, there is nothing hypocritical about it. That's the lamest argument in the entire debate. Every single member of Congress is a hypocrite when judged by this standard. Politicians serve at the pleasure of their constituents as our representatives. They are supposed to vote in our best interest. Even a fourth grader with a rudementary knowledge of civics knows this. If they want to run on a platform of only supporting their personal lifestyle, they are free to do that. But most politicians realize we're all different and that you must seek common ground. Besides, a politician who only votes for his personal interests would be condemned immediately by the same people who cry "hypocrite!".
You just can't argue against logic like that! :silly:  :wtf:
Just don't ever fool yourself into believing that you can talk to these assholes. When they start spewing, you end up with a faceful of bile and maggots.
