So it looks like it's the lawyers who will cause all the trouble when it happens here. Anybody who is a lawyer is most certainly on the "list."

2. wow. a test run. (for about the 10th time in the last 2 days)
So bushcheney set it all up in Pakistan, just to see how efficiently they could do the same thing here. Right. And because lawyers there were in the vanguard protesting the overthrow of the Constitution and the imposition of maritial law, it follows that the same would be true here.

Do tell when bushcheney will impose martial law?

3. Also... the monks a couple of weeks ago.
They want to shut down dissent for people with any moral or knowledge about law and civil liberties.

Not just the lawyers that are being arrested... Opposition political party members of parliment and prominent Pakistani activists along with judges and lawyers. Can't have anyone around who would try the criminals in a fair and accurate trial.

4. my comments are about the notion that
bushco is "running" the coup in Pakistan, as a test run, before imposing Martial law here.

5. Ludicrous.
it is much more likely that events in Pakistan are spiralling out of control as a result of BushCo. policies, but it is thoroughly Ameri-chauvinist and Ameri-solipsistic to think that there is any more to it. If anything, fledgling democracies are falling down the rabbit hole because they're trying to emulate our ass-clown dictator at the same time they are "spreading democracy".

It's terribly convenient for Americans to think of the rest of the world as a place of poverty, packed-dirt streets, clouds of flies, etc. The reality is that Pakistan, IRAN, and other nations are as advanced and cosmopolitan as the USA, only with much broader and deeper histories. These places have been political cauldrons for millennia.
