Landrieu: $3 billion committed to help plug Road Home shortfall

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Congressional negotiators have struck a deal that could add $3 billion in federal aid into Louisiana's cash-strapped Road Home program for homeowners with hurricane damage, U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu announced Tuesday

Landrieu, a Democrat from New Orleans, said the money was attached to a $460 billion defense bill to finance Pentagon operations in the budget year that began Oct. 1. The bill is a compromise spending measure awaiting a vote in both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate.
