THANK YOU REPUBLICANS. Lord knows Dem leaders are too cowardly to stick with impeachment.
Well, I guess we can thank the Repukes for the small miracle in voting to keep the Cheney "War Criminal" impeachment debate on the floor:

Republicans keep Cheney impeachment bill alive
November 06, 2007

House Republicans on Tuesday prevented Democratic leaders from blocking a resolution to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney.

The vote to table the privileged resolution, offered by Ohio Democrat Dennis Kucinch, began as a largely party-line vote to kill the measure, but Republicans developed a strategy to force Democrats to debate the resolution by supporting Kucinich. GOP leaders felt as though it was in their interest to debate the measure because it would make Democrats look bad.

After more than an hour of waiting for the vote to close, the motion to table the resolution failed by a vote of 162-251 after Democratic leaders failed to convince a group of liberal caucus members to side with them.

1. You like this debacle?
Here's a hint: If the Republicans are for it, it's probably bad for the country.

9. The sentiment that gets us NOWHERE
Fear that the GOP, no matter what ridiculous position they take, will win vs is morally correct. Even going so far as to suggest that holding a corrupt, power hungry, Constitution trampling, VP accountable for his actions might not be 'good for the country' just because they attempt to manipulate us into believing it?

Sheez, get a backbone! And, then, share it with the Democratic Leadership.

20. And, what of the consequences when your pragmatism dilutes our democracy?
The road to fascism is ALWAYS paved with pragmatic arguments for the necessity of obtrusive governmental actions and rolling back of freedoms.

Stand and be counted for our Constitution or kindly get out of the way.

21. I don't even know what that question means
Pragmatism is an idea, not an action. Pragmatism has no consequences. Actions do.

24. Pragmatic action is to block Cheney impeachment and consequence is failure to stop Iran invasion.
Tying Cheney up with impeachment may help delay the neocon agenda enough that we actually prevent what seems inevitable now - the coming Iranian invasion.

14. Here's a hint - Dems looking persistently like cowards and enablers is bad for the country.
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 10:55 PM by NoodleyAppendage
Cheney has an 11% approval rating and 75% of the country is against the war and somehow going after Cheney is a losing issue for Dems. WTF?

30. You're so much smarter than this.
Aren't you?

It's obvious they want to embarrass the Dems.

Thanks to cowardly people who oppose holding criminals accountable, the Dems will let them.

Enjoy being a part of their defeat next November. I'll continue to stand for justice - if the fool Repubs want to stand up to appear the same, I'm not associated with them. I'll continue to call for accountability and a return to the Constitution and rule-of-law regardless of who is or is not doing the same.

15. We cannot let "hypothetical terrorism" cloud resolve to uphold the Constitution.
I'm sick and tired of the "hypothetical" excuse being used as justification for avoiding the hard, but necessary, job of actually restoring integrity to Washington and removing the soil from our beloved Constitution. Impeach Cheney. Demonstrate that we are still a nation of laws, then we can worry about the replacement bozo. I would argue that it will be hard for Chimp to find a replacement worse than the war criminal, Cheney.

31. I thank them for NOT allowing Hoyer and the Dems to bury the issue so quickly.
Repukes have their own agenda for voting to keep the issue alive, but the consequence of their calculation is positive for our side. Somehow our Dem leaders have gotten it into their heads that debating the merits of a Repuke official with an 11% approval rating is a bad thing. Americans by a large majority are pissed about the war and the economy, and if the Dems would just get out of the way and let that rage manifest itself we might actually get to a point of holding the Chimperior's crew accountable.

So, while I hate to do it, yes I will thank the Repukes for this singular action. They have helped keep the issue alive and have thwarted the cowardly actions of our Dem leadership.

32. I still strongly disagree with your opt but to each his own, I realize
today's actions leave room for many questions with no answers easily found but I have not given up hope yet, and I don't think I will any time soon that there is more in play than you and I are even remotely aware of and the reasoning for that would be these are dangerous times and sometimes strategies are better left hidden until such time as results are more likely to occur without danger.

Understand how easy it is for this administration to keep such a close eye on each and every single Democratic politician, homeland security is nothing more than a front and I am sure you would have to agree with me to ensure compliance, blackmail and threats are not so far fetched to believe, no tin foil hat needed to even wonder about such a scenario so in the case of what could obviously be what's keeping some more silent than other one would have to understand the need for extreme secrecy and very secret dealings.

They have not lost my support, not all of them, definitely not the party. But I have to admit some have regardless of why they do or say that they have.
