Check in if you've had the last straw
The last straw for me was when they caved on Iraq for the second time.

When was the last straw for you? The sad thing is that I'm not angry at all after this latest betrayal by the Democrats. I was fuming weeks ago, but now it has come to be expected, and the worst that can happen has happened - I don't care.

Because they are not Democrats, they are corporatists and Republicans who put a "D" beside their name, and everyone who voted for them has "sucker" written across their forehead.

So tell me, was this latest embarrassment the last straw, or was a previous one the last straw? Is your back still strong enough that the latest straw hasn't broken it yet? If so, how many more straws can you take?

1. The Last Straw
Hang on, we got plenty of straws left in The Greatest Show On Earth.

American Democracy.

Please don't get upset with it all,,,,, it's just an illusion.

Don't waste your time and emotion. Fox News for fair and balanced facts. The good ole USA for Democracy...

Cheers.

2. I have kids, and don't have a last straw. I will keep calling my Representatives,
and vote for the right people. An alternative is convincing my kids to leave the country. (my oldest is very good with the French language.)

3. The Roberts nomination.
These useless fuck-wads sold us down the river with the SCOTUS.

Most, if not all, of our current problems are the result of the SCOTUS of the 1830s. These shitheels let an even worse collection of bastards take over with their never-ending gamesmanship.

We are lost, it is time to get the fuck out.

15. Thank you so much for making my point.
You are exactly what went wrong with America. When you wake up in your ghetto, thinking about how it all happened, I can only hope that you remember this exchange.

Dim-witted and ensconced in your false superiority, you made it all possible.

31. Does that mean anything?
Is this some kind of "Idiocracy" auto-response that I'm unfamiliar with (i.e. U R so gay)?

I apologize for my ignorance of contemporary idioms, but I don't watch much TV and don't have cable or a satellite dish, so I am frequently not up-to-speed with the latest American mangling of the English language.

If your intent was to imply that I am what went wrong with America, I would merely point out that it has been well over 70 years since America has moved toward the rational solutions to the fundamental problems facing us today. Therefore, I think it highly unlikely that I and my compatriots can be held liable for the clusterfuck that we face today.

41. Another demonstration or Darwin's theory, and reinforcement of the original point.
It replies with no thought nor reason.

Obviously doomed to extinction unless, of course, it has a prodigious breeding capacity, in which case it's natural predator should be protected.

5. I always vote, and I will always vote for the best candidate who has a remote shot of winning
(that's why I don't write myself in, even though I agree with myself on all the issues). In the last few elections there hasn't been anyone better than the D. I doubt that will change anytime soon.

(damn, did i just say that outloud?)

and it's been broken so many times, it can't be broken again. It's physically impossible. It's too short.

So, i have no choice left but to vote for Kucinich in the primary, and then again after the groundswell that will come, in the general.

But, I've discovered that there are many places beyond the "last straw". And that there are fights worth fighting under no flag at all.

20. Actually it broke my heart what they did to him, said about him and how the media
allowed themselves to be used in attempting to make him nothing more than a joke...he didn't give up after all that, what does that say about a person? About him?

I even felt sorry for McCain when they attacked him and his family so personally, but look how he bent, look how he folded, no character if you ask me, and his compliance to the same criminals that so beat on not only him but his family as well made me lose all respect for him and my sorrow completely evaporated for him.

Not for Gore though, but no sorrow now, only pride...

than most public figures can even imagine having.

That was something I didn't know about him when the theft went down. I sure know it now.

17. I've had so many "last straws" I could build a house of cob.
And my options are?

My last straws began with the ERA. Remember that?

The fact that the rest of the democratic membership is feeling what it's like to be a feminist, an African American, gay, or a person in poverty is a kind of scheudenfraude I'd love to live without.

In the meantime, welcome to my world.

the House, eager to get out of town for its vacation and afraid that junior would keep them after school if they didn't do what he wanted, once again cratered and passed the Police - oops! make that "Protect" America Act. I'm just waiting for the primaries now so I can cast my vote for the only worthy candidate, Dennis Kucinich. After that, I'm going with the independents. Enough is enough!
