Multiple agendas... that is what we saw at play today
and they are conflicting agendas.... and they have fractured the parties.

Here they are:

Neocons, imperialist: Schumer, DiFi, Joe, the neocons such as Kristol and of course Chenney... they are all for Empire... in another nation they would be part of a pro imperial party.

Progressives: People like Kucinich, Filner, Maxime Waters, Abercrombie... they want what many of us want, justice and of course national health care, job reform, progressive taxation, et al.

then there are the small factions... that lean in one way or the other

And in the Republican Party we have the fundamentalists, yes you know those global warming deniers and deniers of evolution and science. Yes you know the types, such as Inhofe, their poster child. They push an agenda to destroy the planet, to bring the end of times.

What we are seeing is a conflict between factions in DC... and also here

When people tell us, but impeachment is a waste of time... absolutely it is a waste of time for the Conservative Dems for whom Empire is a desirable effect... and in foreign policy the differences are few and far between. They are also believers of "free trade" and disaster capitalism and in destroying the basic agenda of the progressive wing of the Democratic party. They see the Progressives as nutty left wing dems who have nobody following, never mind in real data this country is trending left.

Now here is what bothers me... not doing what needs to be done... only means that the country is no longer a republic, but officially an Empire.

And if you think that if a Neo Liberal gets in power at the WH... there will be a repudiation of the imperial presidency... I have a huge bridge to sell you. Empires will do what empires will do... the logic of empire is very specific and yes, we are up a creek river... this is why pushing back on the Imperial Presidency is so critical.

6. Yes, and it is overwhelming
So, what do we do? How do we overcome the inertia from recognizing that there may be no hope whatsoever for the human race, animals or the earth?

By the way, have you ever considered keeping a DU journal? Your posts are endlessly interesting, and it's sometimes hard to keep up with them or find them in a search.

You are clearly a serious thinker, and I'm very happy you post your thoughts here.
