Mexico is accepting foreign aide

'World's solidarity'

International help for the flood-stricken communities has begun to arrive alongside Mexican aid of helicopters, bottled water and water purification equipment.

Thousands of Mexicans have donated money to buy supplies.

"I thank the world's solidarity, Latin America, Europe, in helping us at this time," Mexican President Felipe Calderon said.

Donations have been pledged by countries including Ireland ($1.4m), the US ($300,000) and Germany ($250,000).

Peru is said to be sending a planeload of supplies, Britain 10 experts and inflatable boats, and Cuba 50 doctors.

1. Seems that Mexico isn't trying to ELIMINATE its flood-displaced citizens.
Unlike SOME countries we could mention.

2. I've pointed to the differences in the deployment of the DN-III E plan
I am familiar with it, and FEMA.

They are stretched to the limit though and I hate to "win this bet" but I said they would fold by at most today

13. When the Tsunami hit Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia
there was so much death. Unimaginable gut-hollowing suffering. But I will say, the people got busy and it's back together and operating. Of course, they weren't hampered like Katrina victims by Republican crooks.

Africa and Darfur is another story. Too sad to look at.

14. There are critical differences in the response to this mess
when compared to Katrina.

For once the Mexican Government is actually engaged in rescue and relief and the mobilization is national

15. Exactly, same with other 3rd world countries. No Republican impediments
I think the cruelty of Republicans hit average Americans with the Katrina neglect. Finally they got it.

12. Wow I just watched the online Televisa reporting from that land slide
WOW... the Grijalva was completely blocked by the landslide

And the casualty rate is down to 16 people, officially missing... most likely dead.

RIP

But in my years of EMS I never saw that ammount of land block a good sized river... nature is impressive

And you know what else? Watching a newscast where they respect the viewer and use languge beyond eight grade is refreshing
