I've had at least a couple of those "A friend has sent you a greeting card!" type messages in my bulk mail almost every day. Fortunately, Yahoo email has very good spam protection and I've never opened any of those.

Besides, a REAL ecard will tell you who it's from, not just "a friend" or "a classmate."

These are a real vehicle for a real virus going around, as confirmed by McAfee and Snopes. Be careful.

The link that Snopes had was true enough http://vil.nai.com/vil/Content/v_142621.htm and very important is this bit

Method of Infection -

The URL in the message points to a site hosting the a cocktail of browser and application exploits. On visiting the site, a silent drive-by install of malware is attempted on unpatched machines.

The moral: keep your Windows patched :-)

Other moral: go to the source, e.g. McAfee
