Local Election results - Sign of things to come? IT’S DEMOCRATS ALL IN THE ROW
IT’S DEMOCRATS ALL IN THE ROW
Luzerne County Democrats oust GOP incumbents in sheriff, deeds offices.

It’s an all-Democratic county again.

The Democratic Party maintained majority control of the Luzerne County Board of Commissioners and swept seven row office races Tuesday, unseating Republican incumbents Sheriff Barry Stankus and Recorder of Deeds Mary Dysleski.

Thanks to Tuesday’s election, the county will have a Democratic sheriff, recorder of deeds, coroner, clerk of courts, district attorney, treasurer and commissioner majority.

---snip---

Republican Stephen A. Urban, a county commissioner who won re-election, pointed out that nearly 10,000 Democrats voted straight-party, compared to around 5,100 Republicans.

“We have nearly 10,000 people who voted for a donkey, and I think that hurts a candidate,” Urban said.

2. Urban said THAT!?
"“We have nearly 10,000 people who voted for a donkey, and I think that hurts a candidate,” Urban said."

Does he always demonstrate a grasp of the painfully obvious, like this?

Seems to me like voting for the donkey helped a whole bunch of folks.

5. It always struck me as wrong
that they have the noble elephant and we have the braying ass. Just wrong.

9. Although I claim to be no expert on braying asses, I'm aware
that donkeys are tough critters, able to subsist on a pretty rough diet and not a lot of that. They are able to carry, for amazing distances, a load that is nearly as heavy as they are.

An elephant, on the other hand, eats everything in sight, ripping up and destroying in order to fill their humongous appetites--eating constantly, up to twenty two hours a day--putting out three hundred pounds of shit a day(as much as some donkeys weigh.)

Donkeys are very capable of defending themselves, having been known for killing wolves and mountain lions by the dint of intelligence and fierce commitment to a cause, while elephants are just too big to attack.
Elephants, while not blind, have very poor eyesight while donkeys are particularly well known for keen eyesight, often spotting predators far away and giving a warning, saving lives, as has been documented.

As big as they are, elephants cannot carry even half their own weight.

And then there's the freedom thing--which one of these creatures could come the closest to flying?

I hope this makes you feel better.

7. Amazing isn't it?
I live in Luzerne Co. I mentioned this trend to the other half earlier today. Things aren't looking so great for the elephants in NE PA.

10. Lower Luzerne
I live in Hazle Township which is typically a solid Democratic stronghold. The results from Schuylkill Co which normally favors Republicans are striking as well.
