Why I just donated $200 to the Kucinich campaign
Ok. I'm realistic. I understand that DK has virtually NO chance of getting the nomination, no matter HOW correct he is on the issues. He botched the opportunity to knock one out of the park with the UFO question, and he will now always be even more marginalized by the press than he ever was - he's the "wacky UFO elf!!"

I'm not an idiot - however much I may think he's the best guy for the job (and I'm not even sure that he is), he ain't gonna be our president.

So why did I just drop $200 I can ill-afford on a presidential bid that I know will be unsuccessful?

Because money is the only thing that talks for these people.

If ACTUAL nutjob Ron Paul can set a single-day record for donations just because it's freakin' Guy Fawkes' day (?!?) I think I can spend a couple hundred bucks of my hard-earned cashola to send the message to Hillary, and Obama, and Edwards that I WANT THESE THUGS IMPEACHED.

And if there is a real, measurable spike in DK's coffers after yesterday's drama on the house floor, PEOPLE WILL NOTICE.

So, I know that a lot of the members of DU are struggling. I know that money's tight for a lot of us. But if you've been on the fence about kicking in some cash to a presidential candidate, I'm gonna ask you to do it TODAY. If you want your $10, or $25, or $100 to actually send a message, then giving it to Kucinich TODAY will speak a hell of a lot louder than giving it to anyone else.

Just my opinion, of course, but I DID put my money where my big fat mouth is. How's bout you join me?

4. I"m sending $ 33.30 that's what I have today
I have this vision of everyone sending just $ 3.33, if that's all they can do. It could become a landslide, and it sure as hell would make a statement in numbers and would even add up to something useful.
We the people, impoverished though our middle class is, would be standing up to show this impeachment is in our name. We are the ones who were lied to, and we are pissed off.
Imagine all the people ! giving $ 3.33

5. Money talks bullshit walks, I agree with you and am going to do the exact same thing
I like Dennis and believe he truly cares about America but most americans do not so like you I don't think he has a chance in hell but a large spike in donations will get some attention.

6. dont buy the talking points about Kucinich...he is representing us..out front, leader...who else?

i sent him 3.33 in may when he introduced the first impeachment bill and again yesterday 8.00..for 799...now i know thats not much..more of a gesture of thanks for what he has done for us... actually doing what so many of us want..

if the millions of us who approve send him a gesture of thanks..then his campaign is benefitting, not from special interests but from majority interests...a unique concept...

i think your post has some talking points...the ones laid down to us from those who want to think for us...re ..i know he doesnt stand a chance of winning the nom..and all the crap about the ufo thing...who really cares if he saw a ufo or not...its a nonpoint...if you buy into it..that's exactly what you are doing...buying into it...

i personally believe that if you have not had a mystical or suprantural or extraterrestrial or other wordly experience ..then you are kind of missing the boat this time around...

ive been a holdout for gore...but since actions are everything today...kucinich is the man of the hour...at least in my book...if its a success, all the other candidates will fall in line and claim credit..but kucinich is fearless and his numbers are increasing..just sayin..

7. Oh, make no mistake -
I am not spouting talking points re: Dennis. I'm just accepting the reality that the system will work VERY hard to keep him in the category of "Looney Fringe Candidate".

For example, the whole UFO thing was not, IMHO, an effort to discredit Dennis, but rather his IDEAS. His ideas are dangerous to the corporate media, and so they need to be discredited. But they can't really attack his issues directly, because on issue polls, the public actually agrees with DK above all other candidates. Therefore, TPTB have to ridicule him personally in order to scare other candidates away from those issues, lest they be tarred by association.

"Non-profit, single-payer national health care? That's what Kooky UFO-guy is advocating! Are you crazy too?!?"

At any rate, I hope Dennis can move up in the polls, and can get something going. I would love to see him in the top tier of candidates. But when I sent in my contribution, I was DONATING it, not BETTING it. He won't ever be taken seriously by the media, and the only thing Joe Six-pack will ever know about him is what the media gatekeepers tell him. So I ain't holding my breath.

9. the ufo thing in the 21st century shouldnt be considered a negative talking point to anyone..to even
think that it is or to believe that the majority of people are skeptical is simply untrue..thats a tactic..ufos and other unexplained phenomena are as normal as apple pie..so basically its a non argument which attempts to distract..think karl rove on a happy day

i think moving up in the polls is in direct correlation to the ability to get his message out..he speaks the truth clearer than anyone else running...so if americans are ready to hear the truth..well...i remain hopeful..
