Going back to bed
I just got up (8AM) and turned on the TV to CNN. They're talking about Rosie, good news from Iraq (whaaa?), and the usual missing white woman (married to a 53yo cop?). I got fucking pissed off and all of a sudden decided to just say "fuck it". I'm going to give up worrying about Bush, Iraq, Social Security (hey, I'm getting close so I'll have mine), and all the other things that make me grab a beer early in the morning and take 3 or 4 hits of a joint in the evening as I watch O'Reilley. I was seriously thinking about just giving up. Giving up all the aggravation, fights, voting, listening to like voices about what, when, and how to make things better in the USA. I decided to go out and rent the video of Sicko, Michael Moore's latest documentary to hit the video stores today (being somewhat cheap, I didn't see it at the theater). Now I've heard and seen all the hoopla about the movie when it first came out both pro & con. Ya know what amazed me the most when I saw it? Yeah, Mike with the bullhorn at "Gitmo" was cool, but the biggest thing was the contrast of the "European" way of life compared to life for "most" of us in the good ole USA. I am not trying to re-review the movie, I get the main point, but the contrast between Europe and us is just simply fucking amazing. Do we have censorship in America? Everyone tells us no, but come on. HOW THE FUCK COME, do we not see the things that are taken for granted overseas here in the US?

I'm getting a little old nowadays and actually am retired with a modest pension (Teamsters), not on Social Security yet, and have looked (not really seriously though) into moving to Canada after Bush won in 2004. My wife and myself don't have a hell of a lot money, I would describe myself as "lower middle class", the highest wages combined that we have ever earned was in 2000 and was around 65K.

So it was in this funk that I was slowly slipping into apathy when I saw Moore's movie. Damnit, I somehow knew that I shouldn't have rented it but something inside made me (the devil?). So now I'm really crabby, pissed off, buzzed from a couple of early "adult beverages" and am fucking going back to bed.

Sweet Dreams..........................

Marty

1. Do this: Only read newspapers that are a week old or greater . . .
that way you can console yourself with the thought things can't be so bad today . . .

Gotta admit, Marty, I have days like yours as well, but I get around them by focusing on issues I can do something about -- I help my elderly neighbor, I call my disabled brother and cheer him up, I write (not here on DU or elsewhere on the web, but nonsensical stories and tales of my childhood meant for my children, or the "history" book I'm working on). In short, I do what can to get myself out of myself. My youngest daughter creates clay pottery. You might try that.

4. Then it's very poor satire and you should get a different hobby. . .
meanwhile, I'll just put you on ignore and make my life richer. . .
