http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.php?smp=&lang=engConocoPhillips is evacuating around 500 staff from North Sea Ekofisk oil platforms ahead of forecasts for severe weather in the region, said a company spokesman. "We will move 500 people to shore according to the present plan," as a safety precaution, said ConocoPhillips spokesman Stig Kvendseth in Norway. The company began moving non-essential staff Tuesday to other platforms in the area and to shore, and would continue the evacuations until early Thursday, Kvendseth said. Severe weather is expected to hit the area Thursday evening to early Friday, he said. Kvendseth declined to comment on the production impact of the evacuations and storm. The Ekofisk area is made up of several smaller oil fields which were expected to produce 467,000 barrels of oil a day in November, traders said. According to the U.K. Meteorological office, gale force 9 winds are imminent in the North Sea region. )
