Anyone have any local victories last night worth noting?
Montgomery County, PA stayed in Repuke control, unfortunately, with 2 out of 3 commissioners winning being Repukes. But Hoeffel finished ahead of Jim Matthews, and 2 Democrats won seats on the state Supreme Court. Maybe next time, with name recognition, we'll take the county control. The borough council is also looking much better - the guy who told us to put away our Lois Murphy literature at the Community Day last year got voted out.

Hoeffel and Damsker also spent a lot of money. I'm not sure where things went wrong with Damsker, other than Hoeffel has been in the local spotlight more.

Was really disappointed in Castor getting elected. I can't stand him.

6. Oregon passed measure 49
which clarifies a poorly written measure from a few years back (measure 37) pertaining to land use restrictions. Measure 37 threatened to open the floodgates of pave-the-world subdivisions and expanding sprawl. Measure 49 makes specifically clear guidelines for how land parcels may be subdivided--landowners can still develop property, but they are limited in how much development. A victory against sprawling McMansion subdivisions and strip malls.

Measure 50, which if passed would have funded health care for uninsured Oregonians, did not pass due to the $12 million Mutant Big Tobacco spent lying to Oregonians.
