Washington Post: Cheney Impeachment Not Dead
Edited on Thu Nov-08-07 03:04 PM by tekisui
Rep. Stephen I. Cohen (D-Tenn.), a member of the Judiciary Committee, predicts that the panel will hold hearings. "I get that impression," he said. "The issue is still alive."

Cohen is a co-sponsor of the Kucinich resolution, which has three impeachment articles against Cheney. All told, 14 Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, including the chairman, Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), initially voted with Kucinich, signaling some level of impeachment interest on the panel.

We have got to keep this ball rolling.

Now is the time!!

6. Yes!!! They say Impeachment Hearings will get in the way of
the work they need to do. I think we should get in the way of their work until they do what we NEED them to do.

Let's not let the phone's stop.

Perhaps they'd like it to be - much easier to get Washington Post reporters in for that precious White House access if everybody would just stop this insanity and shut up and behave themselves again.

To that, I say a big, fat, noisy, slobbery NO!!! In fact, I'm SCREECHING it!

9. Heres what I sent to Conyers yesterday
I'll be quick and to the point as I know you are a busy man. At least do a peliminary investigation into this matter with the impeachment of the Vice President as I feel once you do you will be like so many of us out here who believe he has commited high crimes and misdemeanors. Our Constitution demands, especially in the face of the evidence already presented, that Congress start an investigation, Sir, please do.

Cheney is a pariah. They completely over thought that one- completely against their KISS method that has served them so well (Why I have no idea).

I'm not saying that he will be impeached although really it would only take say a Friday afternoon but opening this can of worms was a HUGE mistake.

He is the Chair of the Subcommittee of Constitution, civil rights, etc.

The ball is in his court.

His aide says she doesn't know if he is going to hold hearings. I asked if they were considering it, she said she didn't know that either. Let them know we're ready, the time is now, before dust collects.

21. Thanks - how about Hoyer n Pelosi local newspaper for RECALL letters?
I used those phone numbers today...but Hoyer and Pelosi are
still standing in the way.

I dont know where Hoyer is from, but I would bet that letters
to the editor of their local newspapers saying "they care
more for their partisan party than supporting the Constitution
of the United States and are obstructing Justice by their
majority Judiciary houses which is a dereliction of their duty
to impeach and they should be recalled by their constitutents
"

would get their attention....and maybe even move his and her
positions.

25. You can't recall federal elected office, such as congress. It's not based on state law, but on
the US constitution.

So when you write that letter, don't threaten recall.

27. Not for federal offices. Some states have recall for state and local offices.
The only sanctions on say congress, is the congress itself can kick out a member they feel has crossed the line.

And of course they can be sued and they can be convicted of crimes.

But they can't be impeached.

If the accusation of partisanship by the repugs is what scares them so much, an accusation of partisanship is what we should use to get them back on track.

There is a copy of the pre-war intelligence estimate on the internet that has finally been released. I have a copy of it if anyone wants it.

I believe that this document can turn the tide and lead to the impeachment of Cheny and all of Bushco. Please, some of you really sharp bloggers out there find this document, tear it apart and give us some more ammunition.

57. At least one version of the report is heavily redacted.
According to the summary, "...The CIA's response included a copy of the estimate, NIE 2002-16HC, October 2002, Iraq's Continuing Programs for Weapons of Mass Destruction, consisting almost entirely of whited-out pages. Only 14 of the 93 pages provided actually contained text, and all of the text except for the two title pages and the two pages listing National Intelligence Council members had previously been released in July 2003."

That's here:
http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB129/index.htm

There's also a 28 page (?) version of that same (?) report, here, which is basically the available text from the redacted report, minus all the cross-out and blanked-out material:

http://www.downingstreetmemo.com/docs/Iraq_Oct_2002.pdf

with another link provided to the redacted version:

http://www.downingstreetmemo.com/docs/nie-redacted.pdf

I wasn't able to find anything that gave the complete, unedited, unredacted text.

65. I talked to Wexler's office today.
I asked when the Impeachment Hearings will be scheduled.

The aide said, "I don't know when they will be"

I asked him who would do the scheduling, Nadler or Conyers. He told me it was up to John Conyers to schedule the date.

We got to stay on them.
