Fair Trade / Free Trade / Starbucks.. questions
Starbucks has come to my son's college campus. I know that the IWW has unionized a number of Starbucks shops, so that's good, but I don't think the barristas at the school are unionized, so that's bad.

There is now an uproar over "fair trade" coffee and there are flyers going around claiming that growers have to pay a huge fee in order to become "certified fair trade" growers, and that it is BAD for the growers.

Well, this sounds a little hinky to me, and he couldn't find a link .. so I thought I'd come to my oracle and see if anyone here has some solid info I could forward to him.

How do coffee bean growers become "certified"..
