I'm 48. I'll turn 50 when/if Obama is in office. I have pushed his candidacy though he's not my first choice. But I have two kids, 22 and 19, and this "kid" Obama just told them I am not to be trusted.

Not the best way to win support, buddy. You might want to rethink that one.

1. It's funny that his new ad shows an older guy saying that...
Obama is looking out for him.

8. I don't care.
To be honest, I'm one of those people that says "Hi kids" when I greet my friends, regardless of age. I'm perpetually youthful, I guess. (I'm even going snowboarding Saturday!) It was obviously a distraction, sorry. Now...any thoughts on the substance of what I posted?

10. Your post doesn't make any sense because you're attacking
Obama for being against people your age, when he's basically the same age as you. Some substance. :eyes:

Sorry, I'm not playing. I made a post, if you'd like to address what it was about great, but don't do this shit. If you want to be technical, he IS younger than me, so what the fuck, huh?

You didn't even ADDRESS my "argument." There was no "argument." I made a comment about Obama's statement! Are you on drugs????

So, okay, fine...he's close to my age. What do you think people 60 years old will think? I'm sure he wasn't addressing his comment ONLY toward me!

Good god. Some people will argue about anything!

28. 50 is the new 30
I really don't get where Obama has been taking his campaign for the last few weeks. Is he getting deliberately bad advice? Has he been paid off to throw the match? I don't get it.

http://www.ecanadanow.com/news/us/obama-states-clinton-is-too-old-to-bring-u.s.-together-20071108.html

Obama States Clinton Is Too Old To Bring U.S. Together

Washington (eCanadaNow) - Barack Obama, Democratic candidate for president, has come out and stated that his rival Hillary Clinton is simply too old to unite the United States of America.

He stated that she is too old and in the class who have been fighting the unity fight for too many years.

He stated "I think there's no doubt that we represent the kind of change that Sen. Clinton can't deliver on, and part of it is generational. Sen. Clinton and others, they've been fighting some of the same fights since the '60s, and it makes it very difficult for them to bring the country together to get things done."

The 46-year-old Obama is trying to turn the White House race into a generational race it seems. Many believe though that with these statements he could really turn away voters over the age of 50.

Phil Singer, spokesman for Clinton, who just turned 60-years-old, stated "It is an odd thing to say for someone who is looking for votes in a state where the average caucusgoer is in his or her 60s."

Maybe because he LOOKS young, he thinks he'll fool enough of them? I don't know. It seems like a stupid statement to make.

21. It makes perfect sense
It's a stupid positioning statement to portray himself as the alternative to other frontrunners.

Other than that, it makes no sense at all.

22. I had already crossed Obama OFF my list...
Thanks for the validation on a great decision!

I love being 50! It stung for a few days, but damn! Every time I say I'm 50, someone looks at me and says, "NO WAY!" Gotta love that! I have three adult kids, and when I shop with them and they call me mom, people freak out! Yay for granny's great genes!!

Obama can kiss my lily white fifty-year-old ass!

What an idiot.

23. I think its a bit precious to be offended by it.
It does seem to be a fairly shallow attempt to reach out to the youth vote though. In light of the fact he's 46 it looks positively fucking stupid.

out as the boomers are the largest percent of the population, and voting population at that.

27. A better reason to question Obama's pov
an informal advisor and friend to Obama has an article in Salon talks about the problem of narrowing casting your reading, etc. on politics so that you only hear people who agree with you. He claims that "enough people wanted Clinton impeached" which, to me, is unmitigated bullshit b/c Clinton won re-election, the whole show was for the republicon hypochrists, and that moment was sort of the "last straw" for many liberals that I know and knew... all the republicans with mistresses and illegitimate children (and closeted gays) who moralized about Clinton's unwillingness to admit he got a blow job while he was married to someone else.

give me a freakin' break.

anyway, soooo, this guy says, in the Salon article, that he voted for Bush in 2000 and had "high hopes for him." - and thought he was going to be a very good president. well, duh. can you get more stupid? who would trust someone who thought that Bush was going to be a good president?? I knew about him before the 2000 election- all my family members got copies of "Shrub," by Molly Ivins, that year.

So if this is someone Obama listens to, then I don't want Obama as my president. Not to mention the whole "god saved me from gay" moment at the church. I had a better impression of Obama at first, but now my two choices are between Edwards and Dodd. Since Dodd doesn't have the numbers, I guess I've decided on my candidiate.
