The 46-year-old Catholic priest, who until June had been assigned to St. Patrick Parish in Stoneham, was arraigned last weekend in Manhattan District Court in New York on charges of stalking talk-show host Conan O'Brien.

According to a criminal complaint released by prosecutors yesterday, Ajemian allegedly mentioned the Virginia Tech serial killer and said that he had previously stalked tennis player John McEnroe, whom he called his "childhood nemesis."

"This is your priest-stalker again, the one who has been tracking you through space and time, from Mather House . . . to the Majestic," Ajemian wrote to O'Brien in February, calling himself "Padre 009," according to the complaint. "I paid $250 to fly down to NYC yesterday just to have a spot in the audience, in the dimming hope that you might finally acknowledge me."
