Evangelical SHOCKER!!! Dobson To Endorse Huckabee
Washington Prowler
Huckabee's Salvation
By The Prowler
Published 11/9/2007 12:09:30 AM

Dr. James Dobson, who has largely been made irrelevant to the 2008 Republican presidential race, has apparently found his man, and according to an adviser, is ready to change the landscape of the Republican nomination race.

"He is the leader of the evangelical and social conservative movement in America, and he's going to reassert that position and leave no doubt that he's in charge," says the adviser based in Colorado.

Sources close to Dobson say that within the next ten days he is coordinating an endorsement plan with the presidential campaign of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. According to a Huckabee insider in Iowa, the event would be staged in that state at a rally, followed by a bus tour across the state, and an appearance by Huckabee on Dobson's radio show, which is heard nationally.

2. Dobson's delaying the ultimate decision whether to go 3rd Party until after the Repub Convention
Once Rudy or Mittens wins the Nomination, Huckabee will not, they have to decide anew whether to violate one of their hard and fast principles by backing the Repub nominee or supporting a 3rd Party Candidate.

a hell of a lot of jockeying of late. Frankly, I am betting - and concerned about - a Romney/ Huckabee ticket, although with Brownback weighing in with McCain a McCain/ Huckabee combination is a possibility. The Robertson endorsement of Guiliani is, I think, ultimately pretty worthless, outside of showing what hypocritical, opportunistic pieces of garbage both Guiliani and Robertson are.

edit: typo

A perfect scenario? A Republican-probably Rudy, a Fundie-approved Independent, and Ron Paul as an Independent. Here's hoping Republicans choose purity.

7. hmm...is this a power struggle between Dobson and Pat Robertson?
The timing is interesting since Robertson just threw his support for Guiliani yesterday. Does this point to a power struggle within the evangelical world or will they both end up bending over for whomever wins the republican nomination? Either way, it sounds like they're having a hard time getting noticed this time around.

10. Yep--read this ego-trip:
"He is the leader of the evangelical and social conservative movement in America, and he's going to reassert that position and leave no doubt that he's in charge," says the adviser based in Colorado." Dobson can't be outshone. He's already ruled out McCain, Rudy, and Thompson, and he can't risk pushing a Mormon, so Huckabee is it by default. But he's going to play it like he's THE kingmaker. Love to watch these Fundie idiots duke it out--reminds me why I would never vote for any of these guys.

12. WOW. umm, yeah.....
I guess what Dobson doesn't understand is that a true leader doesn't have to do much reassertion. People are either inspired to follow you or they aren't. This is so...what's the word....oh yeah, PATHETIC. So much grasping at straws, it's almost too sad to watch.

And a Happy Friday to you My Dear. Heading to the quarter in a couple of weeks Christmas Shopping (without the wife in tow.) I'll check to see if Johnny White's Sports Bar has its Virginia Dare Christmas ornament up this year.

And cheers to Virginia and Mississippi. They both put their respective state senates in the hands of the Democrats. The majority is a teeny tiny one in MS but a majority nonetheless.

13. Huckabee has been slowing creeping up in the polls
If Dobson gives him an extra few percent, it could make Huckabee a factor.

And, Huckabee could be a tough opponent, as he has less baggage than Rudy, McCain, Thompson & Romney and comes across as reasonably personable on TV the one or two times I've seen him on air.

37. Pressed for Dumond's release, even after many, many people told
him not to do it. In fact, he announced he would set Dumond free BEFORE he took office. Dumond's rape victim (distant cousin of Bill Clinton) BEGGED him personally, face-to-face, not to release him. And when all was said and done, after pressuring the parole board to let him go, he tried to go back and blame it all on Bill Clinton. Boy, that's a classy guy, right there. Yes, he does have blood on his hands.

Did I tell you that he was the dark horse of the race? And weren't you the one that disagreed? He's a very typical candidate for the republicans. Republican, southern, governor, palatable to the evangelicals. He's not as loony as Brownback, but he's good enough. Especially when guys like Robertson and Dobson are selling their souls to stay relevant. And I think the article says the same thing. You think people will get worked up about that rape case? Republicans will ignore it. Democrats will worry about jobs, war, environment, etc. The case will ultimately be meaningless. Don't blame me for your lack of foresight.

Dissuade me from what? Republicans don't care about ethics issues. By the time it gets to the general election, it's going to be a non issue. I suppose the disagreement is over the term "big negatives." I still believe he doesn't have them to the degree that Guiliani, McCain, and Romney do. Also, he has the typical republican presidential characteristics. You can make this as personal as you want, but ultimately I am correct.
