People get into trouble when they use a fake address to send their kids to a better school, but
corporations are patted on the back and given subsidy money when they use a fake US address for their companies, yet produce toxic stuff abroad, ship it here and sell it as being made by a US company..

The disconnect is stunning..

This issue always reminds me of the cheating spouse (husband in my example).. He's got his respectable wife & family where his LEGAL residence is.. The wife does his dirty laundry, takes care of his home & kids, provides his legitimacy..and yet the guy whores around, gambles with family money and cuts loose when he's not in town.. This works just great for him, until he gets found out.

Companies that hide behind the reputation of a longstanding brand name, and have their "products" made abroad, should be made to pay tariffs equal to what the loss of the US jobs cost our economy.

The resurgence of Lassaiz-faire, cannibal-capitalism at this particular time, is wrong ..on so many levels..

Family incomes are under stresses that they have never experienced before. People are losing family-sustaining jobs, and it's downright un-american to expose them to potentially dangerous products at the very time they may have the least ability to pay for or protect themselves from the dangers those products pose to their family's health and wellbeing.

Of course, the bureaucratic answer is " Well, you can always sue the company"...but these same bureaucrats work overtime to eliminate that ability to sue. Lawsuits against companies are usually "class-action" suits, anyway, and the return to the injured parties is often a check for under $10, so huge is the number of people harmed.

When a particualrly egregious suit is brought and "won" by an individual, the appeals process often outlives the plaintiff, so it's not hard to see who has all the "protection"..

Life itself has risks, but it's not too much to ask of our watchdog agencies, to have them at last be on "our side"..
