3. It's definitely not a camera. The front part of it with the blue circle
is on a separate flat piece that is linked to the white box with a connecter piece. It is pointed at the front door of a business.

some type of scientific monitoring device put up by the city/other. I spent a few years selling security systems, and I don't recognize it.

19. There's no anemometer or windvane. Just the flat square with the
round disc on it, connected to a white painted metal box that is also kind of flat, with a black knob(?) for tweaking the direction it points (?) and a cable going down to the roof, and it's all on an aluminum tripod.

10. Could be a transmitter/receiver
for bank to bank communications that would be more secure than anything else. It could be part of the silent alarm system.

It's not a camera or listening device. It's not attractive enough to be sculpture and it's too small to be a rooftop planter.

Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 05:00 PM by IDemo
By chance, does the blue side face in the general direction of a tall building(s) or a mountain range, where broadcast and other antennas may be situated?

27. The blue side faces the front door of my office! The device is angled
downward from the roof of the bank. No way it is pointed toward mountains....To my left is a parking area (small) and then a Papa John's Pizza. To my right in my building is a print shop and then a dry cleaner.

Weird.

32. It doesn't necessarily have to face directly at another antenna
Even though it's a "directional" antenna, it will still transmit/receive signal. Satellite dishes are the same way. I'm sure that's what you're looking at. Here's another one:

I'm sure agent Mike isn't using it to listen in on your office. Of course, you realize that you're on the Watch List after taking pictures of a bank? ;-)

39. Your theory seems to make the most sense, if that's the case.
But it's still creepy, lol. People are always asking "What's that THING pointed at your clinic??"

My new assistant got pretty spooked by it yesterday when I was taking the pics. You'd have to see it in person to get it - it really IS aimed straight at my front door, lol.

yet because of the rat tumor studies. People can get them for Fluffy down at the pound a lot cheaper than I would be doing them anyway.

28. I briefly considered that, but this being La La Land, I didn't think I
would get an intelligent answer from anybody inside......

You have to have lived in Los Angeles in recent years to understand this. Sigh. It's a city of morons. The other day my assistant pointed our our change pot for parking meter money to a client. The client wanted to put a quarter in the meter, and said we didn't have it and could we get her a quarter out of our till. My assistant checked the pot and it was full of dimes and nickels, and she handed the woman two dimes and a nickel and it completely flummoxed the woman. And she's a dentist.

36. It looks like it only from the front. From the side we can see that
the part with the blue circle is VERY thin, probably under 1". This part is connected to the white box by a stem in the center.

Not like any speaker or sound-producing device I've ever seen.

31. Could it be how they trigger the exploding dye packs?
It is constantly ending out a directional radio signal, "spraying" the front of the bank with a certain code on a certain frequency, and if an exploding dye-pack picks up that special signal, it explodes?

I bank at Wells Fargo, so now I'm kinda curious.

is not accessible. The door is locked permanently. The entrance to the bank is on the back side at the parking lot......and there none of these devices anywhere else on the bank roof.......
