I've seen quite a few threads recently with folks debating the merits of how civil or uncivil our disagreements are. Somewhere in the mix, are attempts to define who and what DU is or should be.
That is impossible!
We are an eclectic mix of diverse cats that refuse to be herded. Rather, we DO NOT follow the herd mentality like the RW pukes. That is one of the most enjoyable aspects to this place!
I'm not worried about the level of discontent or disagreement or who's candidate has been dissed the most. Thankfully in our corner of the cyber universe, we remain a vital and thriving democracy! When the dust settles after the Dem convention next August, I am very confident the brothers and sisters of DU will close ranks.
If the heat of DU's debates are not to your liking, why frequent the place? I see our internal battles as minor compared to the sewage that will be constantly spewed out from Mitt/Rudy/Fred or whomever the pukes anoint to continue Shrub's policies of war and intrusion into our personal liberties.
I do worry.
I worry lots about the agenda of the corporate M$M, the greenhouse effect to our one great planet earth, and the fairness of our election next year. I do not worry about our friendly and heated (at times) disagreements. DU will be just fine and we share far more common ground then not! Our healthy debates gives us character. I'd have it no other way. Our disagreements define who we are as much as our agreements. They both have merit.
Thanks for all y'all share - this kitchen is well worth the heat!
peace~ :grouphug:
On Edit: That's "eclectic" not elastic...goofy spellcheck!
