Big Coal Slimes Kansas Governor

This BS ad put out by the energy company that feels so slighted because the people of Kansas and their Governor are actually standing up to their environmental degradation is desperate and despicable and is a response that absolutely depicts the politics of fear and playing on emotions over reason described in Al Gore's The Assault On Reason.

My first entry on this. Kudos to Governor Sebelius and those standing their ground. The question now is, will we as a whole? As Mr. Gore stated just recently, he wondered why young people weren't standing in rings around coal fired plants protesting their construction. That didn't get a very animated or serious response on blogs regarding that that I can recall, so I wonder just how many here would actually lay down in front of a bulldozer to protest the construction of a coal fired power plant and their despicable fear mongering tactics.

2. I would.
The Republican leaders of hour senate and house are also writing ugly editorials about Sebelius.

4. Oh, I think there's more than that.
I'll be following the lead of the KC Sierrans on this and if it comes to a place where they think such an action would be necessary and useful, I'll bet they can get plenty of volunteers.

I think Sebelius is a little too moderate, but she is *very* popular and I'd be proud to support the KDHE decision on this.

6. Someone might want to point out that we import Natural Gas from Canada and Mexico
Which certainly are not very much like Russia, Iran, or even Venezuela other than that spanish is a common language in Mexico and Venezuela.

7. Big double full-page ad in today's KC Star.
Making the counter-points. One of which is Kansas's own abundant supplies of natural gas.

The ads have been going back and forth for the last few weeks; it's shaping up as though it's going to be a big fight.

8. The energy companies commercials about "clean" coal/gas/diesel are a HOOT.
They're taking credit for (finally) implementing some of the EPA mandates.

There would be far more "clean" cars on the road today if the refiners hadn't fought the sulfur regulations. Now they take credit for removing the sulfur from the fuel as if it's their personal gift to us. Their excuse? It cost a whole $.05/gallon to do so. They simply couldn't afford it.

I call Bullshit!!!!

12. Kansas rates in top ten states for natural gas reserves

Not only are the energy companies despicable and desperate, they are also ignorant liars. Kansas would not need to import any natural gas as it has its own source. And of course, alternate energies like wind, solar, etc. So hopefully people on the whole won't be swayed by their ignorance, but again, this is America and it seems easy to fool people who are not informed about these issues.

14. So according to the responses, only two people would protest a new plant?
There has to be more than that here. Where's the outrage? Coal kills.
