5. Well, I always thought Bernie Sanders would be a good possibility
He was a co-sponsor of HR 676 when he was in the House.

6. He's a great place to start, then!
While I'm busy calling House Judiciary Members, I'll have to remember to add a letter to Sanders to the mix.

10. Best idea of all --- simply expand Medicare --- and we can do it quickly ---
THEN . . . we have to make sure that they don't starve the system ---

and that we don't run surplus for them to steal ---

and that they don't cut care and investment in the system --

We also need a more direct approach to health --- prevention rather than cure!!!

11. Can't always "prevent"
Edited on Tue Nov-13-07 12:02 AM by OzarkDem
some illnesses need treatment because we don't know what causes them.

Scientific evidence is pretty scarce for the causes and preventions of most serious, life threatening diseases.

And even if you have preventions available, its still a basic human right for a sick person to get health care.

12. No -- we've dumbed down medicine . . .
We're creating illness ---

First of all, most people don't understand that PLANTS are our drugs/medicines . . .
We've destroyed an unbelievable amount of stuff we don't even know what it does ---

No argument --- I support UN Human rights --- shelter, food, clothing, health care for all ---
and I'd include MORE.

But we have an insane system of medicine --
We're creating cancers ---and other illnesses ---

and we have a system based on cures . . . our system should be based on prevention.

14. No, we just don't spend enough money
researching the causes of diseases. Its a very difficult, time consuming and expensive area of medical research, no one wants to do it. The rewards aren't good enough for them ($$). We also don't have legislators who are smart enough or well educated to understand the best strategies for reducing the burden of illness. Most of those who get elected today are good at raising money, but not smart at doing their job (Pelosi and Reid are good examples).

16. No . . . our approach is upside down . . .
When you deal with heart disease . . . doctors know that what they are removing from arteries is white solid animal fat --

Does the public understand this?

Animal and dairy eating are connected to: obesity, heart disease, hypertension, cataracts, diabetes, juvenile diabetes -- and more . . .

In fact .... probably about 10 years ago, it became clear that a lack of folate -- folic acid in its synthetic form -- and available from fruits and vegetables --- was responsible for SPINA BIFIDA and other neural cord disorders in preborn/newborn ---
and that it was also connected --- by about 40% --- to Down's Syndrome

Now -- there was no campaign launched by the FDA to warn women and families of this.
They were finally sued by --- be back with name, can't think of the Dr. and organization at moment --- HOWEVER, they still never launched a campaign to advise the public of this.

What they did was add synthetic folic acid to flour ---
which has some negatives for the elederly

So, pass that along to any female members of your family --- eat fruits and vegetables --

Same thing with breast feeding --- we still have no national campaign in America to encourage breast feeding or to educate young women and pregnant women on its value to their child ---
to its intelligence -- and in fact, there are hormones and chemicals in breast milk which are used into your 80's . .. !!!

Further re cancers . . . you have thousands of cancer cells floating around in your body at all times. Your immune system, however, it is thought, is not as able to detect cancer cells thru animal fat accumulated on your body.

So -- those are just a few examples ---

Sorry I can't think of the name of the doctor --- back later---

13. Mike Capuano--great!
He used to be my rep before they did redistricting. I don't see my current rep's name on the list. I should probably call his office and ask why.
