Randi Talks To Conyers! He Says Judiciary Has Time For FISA & IMPEACHMENT!
Edited on Mon Nov-12-07 03:48 PM by orleans
randi said she saw conyers in detroit over the weekend--
she made a speech and got 15 standing ovations
conyers was the FIRST to stand when randi started talking impeachment

she informed him that his staffers put out a press release that said he didn't have time for impeachment because they needed to work on a fisa bill

"what did i say?!" he asked her.

then he said, "oh, no. we have to work on this fisa bill but we have time for BOTH"

on edit:
conyers said the case randi made was doable

conyers said he got more information out of randi's speech than he has been able to get from the lawyers advising him and the committee

he took randi's home phone number--said he wanted to talk to her more about this

she said they should get johnathan turley and bruce fein on the record (two constitutional scholars) and he said he would do it.

randi has a big issue with their staffs--that they are incompetent (many of them). they aren't passing along messages, they aren't seeing bigger pictures, they "are not up to the task" and the congress members have to start being in charge of their offices.

now she is talking to steve cohen, congress member from memphis who is also on the judiciary committee and wants to go forward with impeachment

she is going to email cohen a copy of her speech that conyers heard over the weekend. randi is getting his private email because she thinks the staffers are not giving messages to the congressmembers.

i wish she would put a copy of her speech up on her website!

13. I heard her say it, too. But, she seems very down about it.
She was making some interesting comments about clueless staffers. I only caught the first part of her show and she was moving on to Veterans. But, I got the feeling she thought the staffers who take the calls aren't reporting them to the Congress critters in the appropriate way. She said something about it being like a talk show call in where the board lights up and calls are screened? I might not have heard that correctly, though.

23. she is very down on some of these staffers
the fact that conyers' office put out that statement and conyers NEVER SAID HE DIDN'T HAVE TIME.

he said to randi: "what did i say?" and she repeats his statement to him and he says "i never said that!"

these staffers are dipshits. they need to go do something they are more attuned to--like downloading music into their ipods?

10. I don't mean to be mean or to doubt Mr. Conyers.
Edited on Mon Nov-12-07 03:33 PM by sfexpat2000
But since the Democrats took Congress, we've had a number of seemingly encouraging statements from him that later are minimized.

Imho, we need to keep working instead of expecting a pronouncement from Mr. Conyers or ANYONE. Maybe I've just known too many Spaniards. But, it's statements like this that got Cindy, David and Ray riled up with him in the first place. He supported impeachment until he didn't or couldn't or until it wasn't on the Agenda or until it would take too long or until his calculator said he didn't have the votes.

Not dissing Mr. Conyers or trying to discourage anyone. We're playing major political Casino here and I just wanted to caution people against expecting immediate results.

9. But, he is being more vocal and publicly alluding to that.
If that is what was keeping him back since April, he is laying down his cards.

He is begging us to beg him. He wants to do it, he's ready to do it. He has to find the courage and support to step over Pelosi and schedule the hearings.

C'mon Conyers, Hold the Hearings Already!

27. I love Randi
I wish more people were willing to call people on stuff like this. It's easy to be tough and hold people accountable when you're alone in a room with a microphone up to your mouth, but to do it in person and not back down is something totally different.

As far as Conyers goes, either he has surrounded himself with incompetent people, or he's not being completely honest about the press release. Both options don't inspire a whole lot of confidence right now. I think he has what it takes to clean House, but perhaps he should start with his own "room" first.

28. How's this for a tinfoil hat theory?
The Dem congressional staffs have been infiltrated by RW plants who are running INTERFERENCE. The lawyers that the Dem congressmen are using are a bunch of RW plants. Masquerading as loyal to Dems.

The Dominionists have plotted to infiltrate lower levels of government for YEARS. Who's to say they haven't reached the higher levels and are on staff where they can keep THE PEOPLE from communicating adequately with their Congressional reps?
