40,000 Gallons of Water/Month
There seems to be a house in Atlanta, Georgia, which for some reason uses 40,000 gallons of water per month, even though Georgia is going through a terrible drought. The story pointed out that at that water usage rate the local water treatment plant would be drained in one year.

CNN never said why this person is using so much water per month, but they did name the person. In addition, CNN pointed out that the person has a commerical water meter; however, CNN never said whether a business is run from the house.

6. Mistake
My mistake, I thought it said 40,000. I would like CNN to say why there is so much water usage. I guess they (CNN) do not know the reason yet.

10. One poster suggested sprinklers
I think dicksteele suggested this asswipe was still running his sprinklers 24/7, but I don't even know if that would do it.

Leaky pool seems likely.

You couldn't possibly use that much water just cooking, cleaning and bathing for just one dwelling, ... maybe if that dwelling is a girls' freshmen dorm.

Deodorant is bound to be cheaper... though not as easy to drink, I'll grant you that much...

the guy ain't sane.

(the water waster, not me for suggesting he's changing the pool water every time he takes a leak in it...)

28. would a grower give Bush $2K back in 2004?
If so, he's growing some bad sh*t. Just because you grow plants doesn't mean it's in your best interest to support a shrub. :scared:

17. Maybe he has a 100 gallon aquarium in every room of his house.
Including the bathrooms.

That or he has his own private underwater aquarium exhibit... it'd be cheaper to fly to Bloomington; see the one in the Mall of America. You know, the very one they rushed to complete, fill with livestock, and then watch all the critters die because they hadn't set up the biological filtration properly... x( (if it takes one month to properly acclimate a home aquarium...)

21. Maybe using it to generate hydropower
to sell back the the power company as "green power". Using city pressure to pump upstairs, then gravity feed into a turbine. :)

20. shameless greed
What the fuck would it matter if the city charged this opulent prick 10X the normal fee - once the water is gone, the water is gone!

I can't comprehend how anyone would allow a mansion to keep its grass green over the health and safety needs of common folks.

Crazy!

22. Well, that's civilization in a nutshell:
The grass is more important than your neighbors.

As I recall, God wasn't too keen on towns whose indigenous peoples were greedy and selfish... we all have our sins, but that bloke with his big green cathedral has some 'splainin' to do... and it's still not up for us to judge.

26. ....and it's still not up for us to judge?
Ummmm, imagine people literally thirsty in the streets - waiting for hours for the water truck to deliver their (water ration) and outside you hear the dwellers of said household frolicking in the cool water of his big swimming pool, next to his very green lawn (probably a sophisticated underground irrigation system).

How would that go over?

I think HypoToad, it IS up to us to judge. Are you suggesting to sit quietly --- hoping for some divine intervention to teach that selfish idiot not to piss away everybody's water? It is up to us to ensure that people don't go thirsty or hungry while the upper .01% of the earning scale wastes 100X their share of the limited resources. I'd rather not wait for that bloke's splainin - I say give the people water!

peace~:)
