The unadulterated results of the DU fundraising race.
Because I think it's more interesting to look at the results without the powerups:

Obama gained 353 from Dirty Trick, lost 609 from Out of Gas, net change -256
Kucinich lost 353 from Dirty Trick, lost 1491 from Endorsement, net change -1747
Edwards: lost 1897 from Sabotage, net change -1897
Clinton: gained 1897 from Sabotage, net change +1897

Adjusted scores as I write:

Kucinich 3143
Edwards 2306
Obama 595
Biden 409
Richardson 311
Dodd 274
Gravel 79
Clinton -347

1. It would have been more realistic and "Florida/Ohio-esque" if
Edited on Mon Nov-12-07 06:52 PM by SoCalDem
the power-ups had been done AFTER all donations were IN and accounted for..

4. not that the mods would do this
but it's a fun conspiracy to think maybe they gave a power up to a clinton backer just so they would put her atop the standings so more people would give $5+ to get in on the action...

regardless, it's a fun way to raise funds. In the end, I think the 'winner' will be Kuch or JE because of the backing on DU for them.

13. Nah, it wasn't a Clinton supporter who pushed her ahead,
believe it or not.

It was someone who wanted everyone else to focus their efforts on pushing her back where she came from... brilliant strategy if you ask me

But I agree about the effect, getting people riled up to throw more $$ into this race

Go, Dennis!

8. I note that Clinton has jumped far ahead.
Typical -- the candidate favored by the wealthy corporations outspends her betters.

11. Nah, someone used a powerup and switched her votes with Edwards.

10. So in other words, it's like the primary polls.
Nobody really likes her, but things are manipulated to make it look that way.

15. The difference bewteen this result and the DU straw polls is rather interesting
Edwards getting pretty close to DK when money is involved, whereas DK has the numbers overwhelmingly in the straw polls...

hmmmm...

23. Have you seen *this* DU straw poll, with 1071 votes?
10-26-2007 DU straw poll of all announced Democratic candidates

Poll result (1071 votes)

Biden........(72 votes, 7%)
Clinton......(112 votes, 10%)
Dodd.........(42 votes, 4%)
Edwards......(331 votes, 31%)
Gravel.......(9 votes, 1%)
Kucinich.....(379 votes, 35%)
Obama........(107 votes, 10%)
Richardson....(19 votes, 2%)

As you can see, Kucinich and Edwards came quite close in this large sample. As did Clinton and Obama. :P

26. You just pointed out that there are fewer trolls than I thought
I must have seen a different poll, and it sure did not have that number of votes, so I yield, and rest comforted :-)

I'd happily vote for either of the two front runners in that poll. DK being my true choice, reality tells me there's much to say for Edwards as a concerted alternative to Hillary (whom I'd vote for if..).

Remember the series of DU polls eliminating candidates? Edwards was the one left standing - I think that says a lot. I dislike his IWR cosponsorship strongly, but the strong language he is using now to profile against HRC makes me think he REALLY has progressed past that...

DK is the one really for the people imho - but I hope and think the grassroots will be able to shift ANY nominee to the left once elected - for example by voting out some enablers in the next congressional election.

17. Thanks for posting those
although the powerups do have other consequences than just the direct effects. For example, Clinton is going to get many more "negative" votes now that she's been pushed so far ahead.

19. that doesn't make sense
shouldn't everyone start at zero? So, if you are adjusting scores, how could Clinton by -347? Wouldn't she be zero?

347 more votes have been cast against Clinton than for her.

-353 + -1491 = -1844

29. I'm guessing a dropped carry (of the 1 to carry over to the 100s place),
then a repetition of the 7, not the 4.

Without a calculator (checked and double checked), I'm largely useless at basic math these days.

(Of course, I check and double-check (...) pretty-much everything at this point.)

I like the idea, but some people might use the numbers without checking.

32. I think the actblue page totals are interesting.
Hillary has raised a whopping $45 via that page.
Edwards on top with $6406.
Kucinich is next with $4017.

Draft Gore raised $900.

36. Unfortunately not. Blame the Gaffe

Now that it's been activated, it's impossible to calculate the raw scores any more.

The Monkeyshine, the Pundit Magnet and the Tweetdown will also screw things up somewhat.

I may post an approximate version, though.
