Oh C'mon Keith
You have this veteran - sorry cannot recall his name - who is a frequent guest and offers his opinions criticizing the war policy (?) from a veteran POV.

But today he was complaining about the VA budget which is still at last year's level since Congress has not authorized the new one yet concentrating, instead, on resolutions about MoveOn and Limpdick.

But you, Keith, just wanted him to condemn Bush for not being at Arlington, or at another ceremony honoring veterans. And you kept at him until he finally said: yes, that, too.

Not nice Keith. Or, as the young one would say: not cool.

1. It didn't happen like that at all. Your impression of that
interview was very different from mine.

2. You mean, the vet did not complain about
Congress' priorities?

And Keith did not want him to criticize Bush?

4. Sure, the vet complained about that and had every right to
however, I dont see how you are getting that about Keith. Keith made it a point about caring for the vets.

13. Bully for you.
No one on the thread agrees with you, if that gives you anymore "facts" to add to your impression.

3. This was veteran's day.
I can understand Olbermann's insistence on keeping the guests on subject.

7. Oh, *I'm* a vet and am disgusted by veterans pandering and veterans-baiting
Rethugs are experts.

In 2000 ShrubCo paraded Medal-of-Honors holders on the Rethug state with their medals. POLITICS means NO medals/uniforms.

Phil GRAMM, remember THAT a-hole? He would do the dirty, using his influence to find medals for ancient dudes, then hold a photo-op at RETHUG-PARTY-HEADQUARTERS to do the presentation ceremeony.

Shrub NEEDS to be condemned. What's your problem?!1 Shrub and CHEENEE veterans-BAITED in 2000 on the slogagn "HELP IS ON THE WAY"!1 All those Rethug/a-hole "vets" were SO Rethug against the supposed CLINTON-enemy!1

What HELP/CASH/COMPENSATION have Shrub-CHEENEE given their volunteer army? They have FUCKED their (future homeless) volunteers/mercenaries.

Where the CHEENEE are YOU coming from?!1 Uh-oh, I'm getting into CHEENEE territory here.

8. Bush should be condemned (and Rieckhoff would agree) for this veto:

SCHIP: An Urgent Vote to Protect Wounded Veterans Fails

Some facts:

"The New Direction Congress has supported landmark legislation to increase the Veterans budget by $6.7 billion dollars - the largest single increase in the 77-year history of the Veterans Administration. And there is a $4.4 billion dollar increase in Veterans medical care, including $600 million additional dollars for new initiatives for mental health and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

9. I know you "question everything" but there is such a thing as nit-picking
I didn't see that interview in the same way you did. KO let him get his points across while also making her sure he stayed on topic.

10. The house was debating the bill and the republicans keep holding
up the process. The Democrats have added some health and education funds to the bill PLUS they increased the funding for the veterans. IF THE REPUBLICANS let the process thru, bush is going to veto. He already said so. He wants the congress to give him a bill he can sign. Yep he wants them to be the rubber stamp the last congress was, and write the bill the way he wants. No increases for the vets, no health and no education funds added.

15. I know this is off topic, but I gotta say, Swampy, that piece of art remains a classic
It amazes me to this day that Faux Noise actually had the gall to find the ONE thing Scooter was not found guilty of that day and play it up at the expense of everything else. And people STILL claim they have no personal axes to grind...

You can only imagine what their headline would have been had they been on the air when JFK was assassinated.

"Shots Fired At Presidential Motorcade; No Republicans Hurt."

16. I was just going to say that.
And add too that Paul Reickhoff is not shy by any means. If he wanted to turn that conversation around in that direction, and insisted on it, he would have and Keith would have had to stop in his tracks. Once Reickhoff gets on a tack, he won't budge, and that's one of the great things about him. He's focussed like a laser beam on what's good for vets.
