I hate it when I come across a thread that is locked, and
it contains false, sometimes even damaging information that I'm too late to challenge/help correct. Thus, unfortunately, it remains for all to see until the thread is buried perhaps hours later. Argghhhhhh.

For the record, someone, in one of those Obama embraces homophobes (which is true) threads, states:

"And btw, NO PRESIDENTIAL CANIDATE from EITHER party support Gay Marriage. So I guess they are homophobes too?"

That is bullshit and I'm suspicious of the person's motive. Very suspicious in fact.

Of course someone supports "Gay Marriage," and that person is no other than Dennis Kucinich.

Same-Sex Marriage: Kucinich is the only candidate who supports same-sex marriage. On his campaign website he says, "I believe that equality of opportunity should be afforded to all Americans regardless of race, color, creed or sexual orientation. For that reason I support the right of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons to have the full protections and rights afforded under civil law including the right to marry the person of their choice."

Let's stop lying people. I completely understand that the Obama camp is in desperate damage control mode, but come on.

1. True about Kucinich. He has, in my mind, the only non-homophobic policy on gays.

Yes, I am calling everyone else, including my guy, a homophobe, in the same way that every non-Abolitionist politician before the Civil War was a racist.

2. Well, I hope Joe eventually comes around at some
point -- especially while he's still a Senator.

I think overall, he's a very decent human being.

Smart, capable, very honest...and I hope his good heart leads him in the right direction.

I know he irritates some people here, but I can't keep myself from admiring him.

3. He's not the only non-homophobe. You can disagree about the tactics

for getting there while agreeing on the ultimate goal -- gay marriage.

The main disagreement among Democrats and even within the gay community is whether it would be more practical/faster to achieve federally recognized civil unions first (with the same benefits as marriage), and "marriage" later -- or whether nothing is acceptable short of support for gay "marriage" immediately.

I'm in the group that thinks it is most important to get the rights as soon as possible, whatever the name of the partnership is called. And neither I nor my gay father, or his partner, are homophobes.
