Mercenaries--what the State Dept. Doesn't Want to Know

Living in Kabul I can agree that the armed guards outside all our residences are off-putting, to say the least. I always get a little nervous when a sleepy guard slings his rifle around as he buzzes the inside guards to open the gate to home or office...
