PELOSI Will Put IMPEACHMENT Back On Table If She Gets 10,000 Letters-Start Writing DU?
Edited on Tue Nov-13-07 06:31 PM by kpete
The following alert was in my e-mail this morning from Emily West.* I haven’t verified the information, but decided it’s a good idea no matter what:

Emily's message: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is reported to have replied to the question of impeachment that if she received 10,000 hand-written letters she would proceed with it. What are we waiting for? Letters should go to her San Francisco office.

...................

So, if you really want to see Congress – especially the Democrats – start acting like the co-equal branch of Government that they were intended to be – PLEASE write to Pelosi today.

For those of you unaccustomed to the snail mail process, here are 5 easy steps:

Find a pen and a piece of paper;
Write your letter;
Find an envelope and write Pelosi's address on it;
Put the letter in the envelop and attach a stamp to it;
Put it in a mailbox.
For maximum effectiveness, forward this message to everyone you know!

............................

Nancy Pelosi 450 Golden Gate Avenue, 14th Floor
San Francisco, CA 94102

Phone: (415) 556-4862

My suggestion: Tell Pelosi you support H.R. 799 and urge her to support swiftly moving it out of the House Judiciary Committee and on to full debate and consideration by the entire House.

* I checked for previous e-mails from Emily, and see that she's a strong supporter of Dennis Kucinich.

This is absolute Bull Shit if one of you does send a letter to her...

Kindly tell her it is her job to Impeach this President and VP and you don't need 10,000 write-in's to do your job and if you do, maybe you should resign your roll as Speaker!

21. My thoughts exactly ...
Every hard-working American does their job every day, and it is not dependent on whether they get a certain amount of letters urging them to do so.

As a court reporter, perhaps I should alert lawyers and judges: Want an accurate transcript? Send me 10,000 letters, and I'll think about it.

Jesus H. Christmas ...

This is either a bullshit invitation, or a bullshit way of going about doing one's job.

Which means that either way, it's bullshit.

12. Do you have any worthwhile ventures that will succeed?
I can't think of anything particularly world-shaking that could get past that prick.

Ending the war? Failed.
Getting more support for our troops and veterans? Failed.
Even slightly slowing down the momentum towards war with Iran? Failed.
Getting the budget deficit and national debt under control? Failed.
Enacting universal health care, or even providing the slightest improvements to our health care system? Failed.
S-CHIP? Failed.
Dealing with immigration issues? Failed.
Dealing with the big sucking sound courtesy of NAFTA? Failed.
Taking even slight action to pull this nation's economy out of this nosedive? Failed.

This entire administration has given us nothing but crumbs. This prick will obstruct just for the sake of obstructing.

So what do we have to lose by impeaching the fucker? You're afraid that'll get in the way of accomplishing something useful?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

24. The venture itself IS the success.
Win or lose, objection will/must be registered.

Failure to impeach is complicity -- approval -- exoneration for torture and war crimes.

A far worse idea and waste of time.

I know what side I'm on. If you can't stand Republicans, Independents calling dems cowards now, just wait! You'll never be able to call on the today's GOP corruption or Bush's many crimes. You know why? Because the dems did nothing to stop them and did nothing to hold them accountable. By doing nothing they make themselves look worse than if they don't try. They look complicit and weak. Are you sure you want what's good for the Dem party? We need fighters, not cowards.

Anyone want to bet $10 that she'll either lie about how many letters she got or raise the ante to, say, 20,000, then 30,000 then...

It's like Colonel Cathcart continually raising missions while Yossarian goes slowly out of his mind. This is just another bullshit ploy to buy her another week so she can slip out of town for Thanksgiving without doing a damn thing about impeachment.

I hope her house is surrounded when she arrives back in SF. I wish I still lived there; I'd be among the more pissed off harassers in the crowd.

Also, I forgot to mention earlier that only hand-written letters on paper with a heavy linen content will count. And you must have your luck penny in your right front pocket or the letter doesn't count. And if your fingers or eyes are crossed, too bad; you lose again. Nyah, nyah, nyah.

What a stupid fucking game.

Pelosi said impeachment is off the table w/o ever asking her constituents or other grass roots voters. Get a friggin clue. You have no power to influence her. Let me repeat that: You have no power to influence her. She is untouchable. You think that she mite respond to constituents? You live in dream land. She is an incumbent and therefore untouchable. 60. Sadly, this was indeed a rumor and nothing more. Pelosi is apparently brain-dead
on this issue in particular. no longer feels accountable herself, for aiding and abetting the crooks in the WH.

This was posted on OpEd News this morning, a retraction and correction, based on a phone call to Pelosi's office:
http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_rainbow__071114_a_change_of_heart_fo.htm

I posted the OpEd link yesterday too, and drummed up some letters, but now have seen the error of my ways.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=3718350&mesg_id=3718350

Given Pelosi's statement that it's "off the table, period. End of discussion" .. at this point it seems that it
makes more sense to send letters, phone calls, emails, etc. to Conyers and hope he has the balls to push ahead
with HR 333 anyway over Nancy's obstructions, if he can.

All tolled, a very sad state of affairs. ;-(

61. Another con job from the impeachment crowd
They wanted names for their mailing lists so they fool all their followers. They ran a hoax like this before. Last time they said Nancy Pelosi's office was running a phone in poll on impeachment.

All to go through Cindy Sheehan.

75. Raw Story also reporting the claim is not accurate
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Speakers_office_denies_10000_letters_rumor_1115.html

The office of Speaker House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Thursday denied an internet rumor suggesting that Rep. Pelosi would pursue an impeachment measure against Vice President Dick Cheney should she receive 10,000 handwritten letters in favor of the measure.

"The Office of the Speaker denies it," a Pelosi source told RAW STORY.

I repeat: forget about mail to Pelosi. Flood all other Congressmen and Senators.

But be advised, a liberal lobbyist I took a class with said THEY HATE snail mail. It all gets irradiated and ends up brittle, crumbly, and smelling bad.

Maybe send lots of mail to their local offices in home states? Does anybody know how that works re secrutiy irradiation?

Lobbyist we worked with also said 'don't piss off staffers'. Be nice to the help, people, but get the message across.

74. Fuck mailings to Pelosi. Get 10,000 demands for impeachment to EVERY US Representative
regardless of party. Ditto ALL Senators. Let them ALL know EXACTLY what the people of the US want done.

Nancy Schmancy. If she won't listen, make sure the rest of that body understands and gets her off the table if she won't do what We The People demand.

And really, no matter who the Speaker is, unless the American people are EXTREMELY loud & clear, there will be no action. We have to make sure our reps understand exactly what we DEMAND they do. As it stands, the big money (and likely blackmail) is working for cheney. We need the fools on the Hill to understand they are gonna be tossed from their position if they bow to the bullies anymore.

Our way or the highway.

Period.

They (all) do need to hear the message from America. IF they hear us roar, they might get somewhere.
