I just received a letter from our Democratic Party Chairman
He seemed pretty darn happy. I wish I shared his joy. Here's a snippet of the letter:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From: democraticparty@democrats.org
Subject: Fwd: Post-Election Memo

Dear Teresa,
I had to show you this memo that went around headquarters last week.

One key line:

If Democrats continue to show up everywhere, run on our values, and offer clear solutions on the critical issues, the clear lesson of 2007 is that Democrats are well-positioned to win anywhere in 2008.

snipped (prior to the obligatory request for my money)

And here's my answer to my Party, in the vein of Martin Luther:

Here's the question I have - Do they deserve to win everywhere? In the last 12 months Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have done everything in their power to reinstate the oft heard lament that the Democrats and Republicans are just two heads of a hydra. Yes, the Democrats are still the lesser of two evils but come on, we can do better. Until impeachment of the treasoners in the White House commences and true progress toward withdrawal from Iraq begins, I'm uninclined to remain engaged in the political process because, frankly, it's obvious I'm not part of the process!

I'm fairly sure your grassroots coalition, myself included, will do the Democratic party will, this time, if only to remove the obscene power of Senator Lieberman and to remove the last excuse of the Vichy Congress regarding their impotency based on their slim margins (that never, ever stopped the Republicans, BTW). But after that, they need to begin to listen to us or we will turn away.

I doubt anyone will read this (haven't gotten any indication that any prior communications with any of my Party members has been heard) but the Party really, really, really needs to hear this. You've got us this time because there isn't another choice but change from within or we will leave this Party. Consider this a warning nailed to the Democratic Party door!!!!

Bothell, WA

1. Wow, busy night, eh?
Wasn't it great that the Owners put Gore in the race. Wouldn't it be even greater if they could do that in real life?

2. It's a 'happy' letter but I can't imagine they're feeling too happy.
Donations are down and they know why. I did see a thread indicating that Dems are angry at Dems.

Your letter is great!

And here's the 4th thread I've read about this today-time for everyone to push back:

6. Yep
Not a cent was sent with this diatribe. Nor will the purse strings be loosened until the aforementioned begins, at which time money that is being saved for this election cycle will flow. Of course, if Al Gore gets in, the DCCC will not get anything because he will get it all. I'm starting to doubt that possibility, alas.

4. I received that email too. The Dems Howard was mostly talking about
were State & Local seats. Howard is right to work on those first. That's how the Pubs got total control, and it took quite a few years to do it! Once they got those lower level seats, they redrew election districts and moved on in to the Federal seats.

Something tells me Howard isn't too happy with the Dems in Washington either, but as the DEM chairman, he really can't state that publicly.

I've been fairly pleased with the NEW Dems who were elected in 06, like Webb and several others who really showed their stuff during some of the hearings I watched.

The ones we all seem to have a BIG problem with are the LONG TERM incumbants! That's certainly a point in favor of term limits! Certainly we should tell those antiques that if they don't start listening to us, they will not be reelected, but the other GOOD point is that msot of them are very likely to retire soon!

7. Yeah, I'm not mad at Dean per se, he was a breath of fresh air amidst the stench
But no money will flow until behavior improves.

8. That's wrong. He is trying to build the party outside of DC
For you to say not to support it because of congress is wrong.

11. That envelope says Bill Clinton
Now, Big Dog, is, well, big, but I don't really think he has the mechanism to do either one.

12. No but they use his name because it makes people open envelopes.
I get them, too and usually the request has nothing to do with the Clintons. It's a smart move, when you think about it.
