YIKES! "Smash & Grab" at a large weapons store, right up the road from me!

NEWINGTON, Conn. -- Newington and state police are investigating a bold burglary at a large gun store that involved ramming a dump truck into the store, allowing thieves to steal weapons.

Police said that about 3:25 a.m. Wednesday they responded to a burglar alarm at Hoffman's gun Center on the Berlin Turnpike.

Officers found a truck crashed through the front entrance.

Police said it's believed that some merchandise is missing from the store and an inventory has not yet been completed.

According to its Web site, Hoffman's has a large inventory of ammunition, guns and other weapons including military style rifles, military and police style pistols and military and combat shotguns.

But seriously, I've been waiting for someone to try to link it, to whip up the fear. After all, this "Berlin Turnpike" is actually the beginning of the Merritt Parkway, which leads directly into (cue scary music) NEW YORK CITY!
