So, it seems....
Everyone seems focused on the debates last night, and while presidential politics is important, more importantly is our local representatives. Have you contacted yours lately? Have you gone to a city council meeting, or contacted your mayor. I realize that I am bored with the Hillary, Obama, blah, blah, blah.. since I haven't posted much in 3 days. So, I took the time and wrote my govenor and my house rep. The Senators don't even try to respond. I occassionally write them when there is a vote on something really important, so at least their office knows where I stand.

Anyway, local politics is important. If you have them in line, they have a say on what happens on a larger scale. Bottom up. Its the only way we will eventually get a progressive person running for office or a media that actually reports real news.

So... make the time. Its just as important as the national election, in fact, it may be even more important, for if we get Hillary, our local govt may just keep her in line and keep her from devastating more jobs and creating more wars.

2. Thank you. We get caught up in the big cheese elections... but
its important to keep the locals in check... and we know they all start at the bottom somewhere. If they don't work for us on a local level, there is no reason to send them on up the chain.

4. Oh so true!
My start in local politics was joining in a lawsuit to stop the purchase of DRE voting machines. That led me to local Democratic club meetings where I got face time with elected officials and candidates. Nothing beats standing toe to toe and helping decide how your tax es are being spent.

5. I actually got a phone call back from my house rep...
I have written to him about every week. And told him what I disagree with and what I wish he'd stand up for. It was a well written cohesive letter-essay. It really is nice to have some recognition for being a citizen. And he is a repug. I told him that as of now, I would be working very hard to get rid of him if he didn't start representing the constitution and his constituents.

Anyway, apparently, it is more important to just bitch about things not getting done, otherwise, this would have at least made 5 recs. After a whole night off, I realize that people here, are in general, apethetic sheep. There are only a handful of patriots.
