1. good man. He was against war in Vietnam but was also
Hubert Humphrey's co-chair in '68 (along with Fritz Mondale)and then ran an anti-war campaign for president in '72 but was upstaged by McGovern. He tried again in '76, then retired from active political life.

2. I'd like to point out he's from OKLAHOMA
for all of those DUers who seem to think that all Okies (and Texans and anyone from the south) are 'backy chewin, Nascar watchin, gun totin' rednecks.

7. Well...
I've met a couple of Hawaiians who fit that description! :)

I admit that it's mostly a self inflicted wound. With people like Tom Coburn, Inhofe, Istook representing them and every "man in the street" TV interview reinforcing the stereotype (where do they get those people?). What's ironic is that a lot of Oklahoma "rednecks" are strong union members who loathe Bush. Those people never get interviewed.

6. Too bad we haven't produced more modern-day Fred Harrises.
Andrew Rice is a fine example of an up-and-coming Oklahoma Democrat, but we need more like him.

Hey, XOKCowboy, this week has been our Centennial Celebration--quite the do here in OKC last night. More people need to be enlightened as to what Oklahoma has give this country--they might change their tune just a bit, don't you think?

Here's an example: Dr. Jordan Tang and his team at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation are developing what they think could be a vaccine against Alzheimer's Disease.

Pretty cool, huh?
