WWII Aftermath, 40-60 years later, Adoptees reunite with German Birthfamilies
In the first 20 years after WWII (1945-1965), an uncountable number of German-Born children were adopted by US-Military couples and brought to the United States. These now 40-60 year old "average Americans" are interested in finding out about their German Birthfamilies and their German Heritage.

German Adoption Laws allow adult adoptees access to their birth and adoption records.

If you have a friend or colleague who would like to re-connect with his German Birthfamily, please lead him or her to the website www.germanbirthregister.com

1. Thanks for that news.
Altho my adoption wasn't from Germany, I was fortunate to have found my Birth family after 55 years. It changed my life and I never gave up. My Birth family is WONDERFUL and closure is wonderful too!

5. Thank you Angela
I can't tell you how happy it's made me. I was 2 years too late to meet my Mother. My 2 brothers and sister say that I am more like my Mother than they are! And from the cherished pictures, I look JUST like her too. Lucky me!

6. This is fascinating - thank you so much for posting it!
My dad was born in 1954 in Duesseldorf, Germany and adopted at the age of one by an American couple (my adoptive grandfather was in the US Air Force, and they lived in Europe for a while). He's not in the database, and I'd love to show him this and see if he's interested, but my adoptive grandmother just died a week or so ago and so I'm not sure he'd be up to it. Still very interesting, though, and I'll keep it bookmarked for future reference! :hi:

7. He would only be listed
if he or one of his children would have registered his birth data.

May I motivate you to "actively search", by taking the steps listed at the website?

German Birthmothers are unfortunately not found by surfing the internet.

Contact me through the website if you have specific questions.
