Sen. Clinton: These Boots Were Made For Planting

A Sleuth informant in the Democratic presidential political arena (read: rival campaign) sent us this photo of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) speaking at this past weekend's Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Iowa. The informant joked, "A picture of HRC surrounded by plants! How appropriate!"

The budding comedian is referring to the Democratic presidential primary story du jour: that the Clinton campaign has been caught craftily planting questions with audience members at campaign events. (Clinton has apologized for the practice even while John Edwards hammers away at her, comparing her to President Bush.)

But really, what we found most interesting about the photo is that Clinton is wearing boots with her pantsuit, something we haven't seen before. (The pantsuit, we have; The boots, we haven't.) They look nice yet comfortable - smooth leather with a roughly two-inch chunky heel. Hard to say from this angle whether they're of the Aerosoles/Naturalizer variety (as our expert fashionista believes) or more along the lines of the much more upscale and fashionable Taryn Rose.

2. Not that any of this matters
but the following morning she wore a snazzy pair of low-heeled pumps that matched her suit :eyes:

I wonder what type of shoes everyone else wore for the evening.

Me? I wore the cutest pair of Chinese Laundry red pumps:
