Wes Clark is shilling for Hillary on Stephanie Miller show now
Come on man, have some dignity. We know that you want a job in her cabinet, but sheesh.

He is also saying that Iraq is a non issue for 2008. He is saying that it has already faded from the front page and will be seen as a victory for us by 2008.

10. It's funny because a lot of DUers were saying the same thing
as Clark when we went into Iraq. "What about Iran and North Korea?"
Clark and many others, including Russ Feingold have been warning about
Iran for years now. Neither has suggested war. Clark has always said... war as a last resort and only if the US is under imminent threat.

I hope he doesn't get a job, if he can't do better than that.

I'm curious.

7. what else should I have said? He is sucking up to her for a job. He is also advancing her ideas
as though they were the gospel.

from dictionary.com

Shill- a person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, or friendship or loyalty

n. One who poses as a satisfied customer or an enthusiastic gambler to dupe bystanders into participating in a swindle.

You don't. He may be shilling and he may genuinely support her. There's simply no way for you to know what you're falsely claiming to know.

19. It's Possible
It's actually possible that Wesly Clark knows more about foreign policy and military involvement than the people who denigrate him on this forum do.
Yeah, that's right. It's possible that he's smarter, has more information, and has thought things through.

Those who don't like Hillary can say so. They can opine about what she believes that they don't. But to call an honorable man a shill because he seems to think she IS saying something worth saying is just...neoconlike.

21. Wes predicted the administration would start to draw down troop levels
in 2004, and he was completely wrong. When I and others here called him on it, we were met by the faithful with, "I suppose you know more than a four-star general blah blah blah..."

So I don't have a lot of faith in Wes' insight or his influence. I think he'll be an effective lobbyist, but as a political figure he is out of the loop, and probably for good.

25. Ummm... he never said that.
And, I wish to God he was running because we need someone of vision and not some corporate lackey as our top three are (including Edwards, who is only speaking a Dean-game to win votes - his voting record doesn't match his rhetoric).

BTW, he DOES know more than you regarding such issues - don't flatter yourself otherwise.

31. I didn't know about the Iraq connection to al Qaeda
but Wes did:

"In numerous campaign events, Clark has said there is no link between Iraq and al Qaeda. But while endorsing a House candidate in New Hampshire over a year ago, a reporter asked Clark about a possible connection between the two. And here's some of what Clark said then.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP -- 2002) CLARK: Certainly there's a connection between Iraq and al Qaeda. And I'm going to go here beyond what I've read in the intelligence that's been published and tell you what my experience has been (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

Intelligence organizations are connected in some way. In other words, their job, they don't have the same kind of protection between foreign intelligence (UNINTELLIGIBLE) we as American citizens enjoy. (UNINTELLIGIBLE) secret police know what's going on in that country and they have their connection with other intelligence agencies.

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0401/13/ip.00.html

And Wes' experience consulting for pharma on Wall Street makes him well-worthy of the 'corporate lackey' label

35. All you could find were some clips with "unintelligble" thrown
throughout?

Besides, that was a smear provided by another campaign:

"It would be naive to think the Iraqi intelligence agency never tracked anyone from al-Qaeda, but that's a far cry from saying there's any relationship between Saddam Hussein and 9/11," he said. "I've always said there's no relationship. I was doing nothing but explaining a New York Times front-page story of that day and discounting it."

http://edition.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/01/13/elec04.prez.clark.iraq.ap/

I think you should read his statement to Congress and the NUMEROUS times he said there was no connection:

http://securingamerica.com/node/2540l
http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/editorials/2002-09-09-oplede_x.htm

Finally, I hardly call Immtech big pharma in the sense that they're not driving pricing here. They develop drug programs that target various global health challenges, including malaria prevention and treatment. In any case, Clark was the only 2004 candidate (save Kucinich) to actually SAY the words "single-payer healthcare system."

20. I was wondering that too
Sounds like the way we would talk about a republican....but then again that was the point, just another swipe at Senator Clinton trying to make her seem like a repuke. I'm not even a Hillary supporter and I have to say this shit irritates the hell out of me and the people who do it are lessening any chance that their candidate is going to get my vote.

There is no way for an illegal and immoral invasion and occupation to be a "victory."

We'll have to see in "2008" if Iraq is seen as a "victory". Cause this misbegotten war ain't ever gonna be a victory except in the small minds of bushites.

Edit~ I just read down thread that someone heard Clark saying it would be "seen as a victory" the chimpshits would "call it a victory"..so we'll still see.

Wes Clark was extremely helpful in getting many, many Democrats elected in '06. I expect nothing less in '08.

9. Clark is a really good FOB.
In 2004 when it looked like the DLC-sponsored candidate Kerry wasn't doing too well against Dean, POOF! Clark enters the race to dissipate the votes away from Dean. Coincidence? I think not. The fact that he's shilling for the Clintons is not a surprise.

17. You might want to review the results of the '04 primaries.
It would seem that Kerry and Edwards took a lot more votes from Dean than Clark did, particularly in early states like Iowa.

23. As usual, Clark is a few moves ahead of the pack.
Any D running in '08 should have a plan to counter TV images of troops coming home, 'quasi-victory' baloney from the corporate press, very low US casualty counts in the fall, etc.

Some will recall that Nixon ran to 'end the war in Vietnam' with his secret plan, and spent his first term and most his second term 'ending' the war.

Clark will not be among those wondering what hit us.

... My customer has won a Fullbright award and has worked in international
arms control for the Carter Admin. and told me Clark was one of the smartest
people he had ever met.

And Clark can see this "Faux Victory" coming from miles away ...
less violence and now it is time to bring the boys home for
a parade down Constitution Ave.

30. Twist a lot? Spin a lot? (I listened to the show)
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 12:21 PM by NCarolinawoman
Clark said that it is a Republican strategy to make the war a non issue!!! He said that the Iranians have gotten pretty much what they wanted and are pulling back now- sooooo- Bush will say the USA has won the war which will imply that it was all worth it. This is how Bush will play it.

Clark said that after the tremendous waste of lives and treasury, Bush will spin everything; he might even hold a victory parade full of soldiers marching. :grr:

Shilling for Hillary? He has worked closely with the Clinton foreign policy team and believes and trusts in them. He thinks they will be able to hit the ground running.

By the way, I am a Biden supporter, but would vote for Hillary over any war-mongering Republican. After all, the Republicans are the REAL war-lovers.

(edited to explain that I listened to the show)

38. Yes, "cult" is a strong word because if that were true,
we would all be supporting Hillary Clinton. :)

Many of us have gone in different directions, however; and he knows this because we have told him.

Nevertheless, a lot of his supporters, like myself, still hold him in very high regard. If Hillary DOES get the nomination, I hope he will be there as one of her foreign policy advisers; it would simply make me feel better.
