What sort of curriculum they have and how respected they are as a school, I have no idea.
But you should SEE the place!
Most folks not from here who have any image in their mind at all when they think of ORU think of those enormous "praying hands" that don't really look like praying hands at all to me -- I've called them the "clapping" hands ever since they went on display!
But long before that, in my early years in Tulsa after I first moved here in 1973, I used to ride my bicycle out on that end of town. Back then the campus was not really even IN town but rather pretty far into the outskirts. The road to it was two-lane and paved, but not heavily traveled, and the area was pretty good for biking -- nice and flat for some miles.
The first time my friend and I rode past the campus, I was just flabbergasted. I mean, the buildings are like something from a sci-fi space museum or something, only a lot more lavish with lots of gold all over them and such. You can tell they've had a LOT of money to work with over the years, building that place up. (Money from people like my grandmother!)
It's a pretty big campus, too. Big, gawdy buildings that just make me sick to view. I call it "Oral in Wonderland."
And now that part of town has been built up a lot because it's the "rich" side of town, too. Another "spawn" or Oral, named Billy Joe Daugherty (who was appointed to take over Richard's post for now) has a huge church of his own across the street, "Victory Christian Center." So that whole end of town is, like, "contaminated"!
Blech...... what a disgrace!
